Remote Recruiter Jobs That Pay in Dollars: Who Hires From Nigeria and What They Pay
Remote recruiter jobs paying in dollars that Nigerians can apply for: who hires, live examples, pay structures, US hours and how to check eligibility.

Yes, Nigerians can get recruiter jobs paid in dollars, and some live ads name Nigeria outright. Most come from US staffing firms building offshore recruiting desks, recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) firms hiring across Africa, and freelance placement platforms that pay per hire.
The catch is that these jobs are not all alike. Some pay a monthly contractor fee for full-time work on US Eastern Time. Others pay only when a candidate you found gets hired. Many "remote recruiter" ads that look international turn out to be limited to the US, the UK or one EU country.
This guide covers the types of employers that hire recruiters from Nigeria and real ads we opened in October 2026. It also explains how dollar pay is usually structured, what employers expect, how to find companies hiring remote recruiters, and how to check that a recruitment job really accepts Nigerian residents before you spend an evening on the application.
Quick answer
Dollar-paying remote recruiter jobs open to Nigerians do exist. The main sources are US staffing and healthcare-staffing firms, RPO companies and freelance placement platforms. Expect to need two to three years of full-cycle recruiting experience, confidence with an applicant tracking system and, for US-desk roles, a willingness to work Eastern Time hours. Pay ranges from small per-placement fees to full-time contractor income, so check the pay structure and location rules on every ad.
What a dollar-paying remote recruiter job looks like from Nigeria
A remote recruiter finds, screens and moves candidates through a hiring process for a company that is usually abroad. The tasks are the same as in an office job: writing job ads, sourcing on LinkedIn and job boards, phone screens, scheduling interviews, updating the applicant tracking system (ATS) and coordinating offers.
What changes from Nigeria is who you recruit for and when you work. A "US recruiter" ad usually means you'll hire people in the United States for US clients. You'll keep US business hours, and you'll be expected to know US hiring terms such as W-2 employees, 1099 contractors and work authorisation checks. That expectation is general industry practice. Read each ad for the specifics.
The four kinds of employer you'll meet
| Employer type | What you do | How pay usually works |
|---|---|---|
| US staffing or remote-staffing firm | Fill roles for US clients on a US schedule | Monthly contractor fee in USD |
| RPO firm | Run hiring for a client company as part of its team | Contract or fixed-term fee |
| In-house talent team at a global company | Hire for one company, often across regions | Salary or contractor fee, sometimes via an EOR |
| Freelance or associate recruiter platform | Submit candidates for open roles | Per placement or commission |
An employer of record (EOR) is a company that legally employs you on a foreign firm's behalf, so you get payslips and some benefits instead of invoicing as a contractor. Our guide to contractor versus EOR employee arrangements explains the difference and what each means for your rights.
Specialisms within recruiting
Recruiting splits into narrower roles, each with its own route in. Technical recruiters hire engineers and data people (how to become a remote technical recruiter). Sourcers find and engage candidates but don't run the whole process (remote talent sourcer jobs). Recruiting coordinators handle scheduling and logistics, and that work is often the easiest way in (remote recruitment coordinator jobs for beginners). Executive recruiters fill senior roles, mostly on retained search (remote executive recruiter jobs).
Live examples: recruiter jobs open to Nigerians (October 2026)
We searched applicant tracking boards, Himalayas and Jobberman for recruiter roles that name Nigeria or Africa. The roles below come from ads we opened on 27 October 2026. Jobs close and eligibility changes, so treat this as evidence of the market, not a list to rely on. Always open the live ad before applying.
| Company and role | Who can apply | Hours and pay shown |
|---|---|---|
| Limitlessli, US Recruiter | Nigeria, Philippines, South Africa | 8:30am to 5:30pm US Eastern; pay not stated |
| Talent Hackers, Technical Recruiting Associate | Nigeria only | Must work US Eastern hours; pay not stated |
| WilsonHCG, Early Careers Recruitment Consultant (fixed-term) | Listed for about 60 African countries incl. Nigeria | Contractor; hours and pay not stated |
| Workium (Onburd), Freelance Recruiter | Remote, no country stated | Part-time; USD 150 to 300, basis not stated |
| ElevonHR, Freelance Recruiter | Remote | Contract; USD 100 to 150 |
Some details from the ads themselves:
- Limitlessli is a healthcare-focused remote staffing company headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. Its US Recruiter ad on Himalayas, posted 25 October 2026, asks for 2 to 5 years of full-cycle recruiting, prefers (but doesn't require) a bachelor's degree, and lists equipment: a reliable computer, a noise-cancelling headset, a second monitor, and a stable internet connection plus a backup. It describes pay as a "service fee", which is contractor language.
- Talent Hackers advertises a Technical Recruiting Associate role for Nigeria, posted 12 October 2026. It wants 3+ years of recruiting, experience recruiting for US clients, ATS familiarity and an understanding of Nigerian labour law and employment classifications.
- WilsonHCG is a recruitment process outsourcing firm. Its Early Careers Recruitment Consultant ad is listed on Himalayas as open to applicants across Africa, Nigeria included, but the job title says "South Africa". Treat that as a mismatch and confirm on WilsonHCG's own application page before applying.
- The two freelance roles appear on Jobberman's remote recruitment listings. The Workium ad asks for 3 years' experience and a degree, and mentions "performance-based earning opportunities", but it doesn't say whether USD 150 to 300 is per placement, per month or commission. Ask before you commit any time.
The pattern is clear even though the list will go stale. The full-time, Nigeria-eligible ads are mostly from staffing and outsourcing firms recruiting into the US, and they expect experienced recruiters rather than beginners.
How much remote recruiters earn in dollars
No reliable public dataset shows what Nigeria-based recruiters earn from foreign employers. Few of the ads above publish pay at all. The figures below give you reference points, each labelled for what it is.
| Reference point | Figure | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| US HR specialists (includes recruiters), median | $75,940 a year | US Bureau of Labor Statistics, May 2025 |
| Remote recruiter in Nigeria, median | $45,452 a year | Plane estimate, no published methodology |
| Remote recruiter in Nigeria, 10th percentile | $15,110 a year | Plane estimate |
| Local Nigerian freelance recruiter ad | ₦150,000 to ₦250,000 | Jobberman ad, October 2026 |
How to read these:
- The BLS figure is a US benchmark, not an offer you should expect. The BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook for human resources specialists puts the US median at $75,940 a year ($36.51 an hour) in May 2025, and it counts recruitment specialists in that occupation. It's what people living in the US earn. Remote pay for Nigeria-based workers is usually well below US local pay, because firms that hire offshore recruiting desks are often doing it to cut costs.
- The Plane estimate is optimistic and unexplained. Plane's remote recruiter salary page for Nigeria gives a $45,452 median (about $3,790 a month, or roughly ₦5.16 million at ₦1,362 to $1, the CBN NFEM rate of 23 October 2026). Plane is a payroll vendor and doesn't say where the number comes from. Use it as an upper reference point for experienced recruiters on international payroll, not as a typical offer.
- The 10th percentile is closer to entry-level offshore work. $15,110 a year is about $1,260 a month, roughly ₦1.71 million at the same rate.
- Local roles are a different market. The naira recruiter ads on Jobberman, such as ₦150,000 to ₦250,000 for a freelance recruiter at Gratitude Nigeria Representative Limited, work out to about $110 to $184 at the house rate. That gap is the reason many Nigerian recruiters look abroad.
For a role-by-role breakdown in both currencies, see our remote recruiter salary guide. For general advice on comparing offers, read how Nigerian remote workers can compare international salary offers.
Salary, monthly fee, per placement or commission
The headline number matters less than how you earn it. Recruiter pay from abroad usually comes in one of four shapes:
- Monthly contractor fee. You invoice a fixed amount in USD for full-time hours. This is the most stable shape. You handle your own tax and get no paid leave unless the contract says so.
- Salary through an EOR. You become an employee of a local entity and get payslips, often with leave and health cover. This is less common for offshore recruiting desks.
- Per-placement fee. You earn only when a candidate you submitted is hired, sometimes after they pass a probation period. Months can pass with nothing.
- Commission-only. You earn a percentage of the agency's fee. This can pay well for experienced agency recruiters with networks, and it's risky for everyone else. Our guide to remote recruiting jobs with commission covers the trade-offs in detail.
Example (hypothetical): two offers both say "up to $1,500 a month". Offer A is a fixed $1,200 monthly fee plus a $300 bonus for hitting a placement target. Offer B pays $500 per hire with no base. If you place one person in your first two months on Offer B, which is common while you learn a new client's roles, you earn $500 across eight weeks. Offer A pays at least $2,400 for the same period. Always ask, in writing, what you'll be paid if you make zero placements in a month.
What employers expect from a remote recruiter in Nigeria
Read enough of these ads and the same requirements keep coming up. The live ads above, plus general hiring practice, point to this list:
- Full-cycle experience. Two to three years of running roles from intake call to offer is the usual minimum. Both full-time Nigeria-eligible ads we opened asked for it.
- US-market knowledge for US desks. Employment types, pay conventions, how US candidates expect to be approached, and work authorisation questions. Talent Hackers asks specifically for experience recruiting for US-based clients.
- ATS fluency. Ads ask for "ATS platforms" rather than one product. Greenhouse, Lever, Workable and Bullhorn are names you'll often see. If you've only used spreadsheets, learn one ATS through a free trial or tutorial videos before applying. Our planned guide to applicant tracking systems for remote recruiters compares the main options.
- Sourcing skill. Boolean search on LinkedIn and Google, and writing outreach that gets replies. See how to source candidates for international remote roles.
- Written English that reads well to an American or British hiring manager. You'll write job ads, candidate summaries and client updates every day.
- Reporting. Limitlessli's ad mentions weekly trackers in Excel or Google Sheets. Expect to report numbers such as submissions, interviews and time to fill.
- Discretion. You'll handle candidates' personal data, often across borders.
Degrees matter less than in many fields. Limitlessli lists a bachelor's degree as preferred, not required. The BLS notes that US HR specialists typically hold a bachelor's degree and that certification is usually voluntary. How to find international companies hiring remote recruiters
Most dollar-paying recruiter roles open to Nigerians never appear on general Nigerian job sites. Here's a method that works with free tools:
- Search applicant tracking boards directly. Type searches such as
site:job-boards.greenhouse.io recruiter Nigeria,site:jobs.lever.co recruiter Africaorsite:jobs.ashbyhq.com recruiter EMEAinto Google. Change the job title to "talent acquisition", "sourcer" or "recruiting coordinator". Open each ad. Don't trust the snippet. - Filter by country on remote job boards. Himalayas lets you filter jobs by the countries where applicants may live. Its Nigeria recruitment page showed recruiter roles from staffing firms, RPOs and freelance platforms in October 2026. On WorkRemote, the admin and HR job listings show where applicants may live on every listing.
- Target US remote-staffing firms. Companies that place offshore staff with US businesses also need recruiters to fill those seats. Search terms like "remote staffing company recruiter Philippines Nigeria". Firms that already hire in the Philippines or South Africa often add Nigeria.
- Look at RPO firms. Recruitment process outsourcing companies run hiring for many clients at once and often staff their teams by region. Search "RPO recruiter remote Africa" and check their careers pages.
- Check employer-of-record and global hiring platforms' own careers pages. Companies built around hiring internationally often employ recruiters in many countries. Confirm the location field on each ad.
- Use LinkedIn's job search with location set to Nigeria and the remote filter on. Then open each result and read the location section. LinkedIn's filter is not proof of eligibility.
- Save searches. Recruiter roles can close within days. Set alerts on two or three boards so you see new ads early.

How to check a recruitment job is really open to Nigerians
An ad can say "remote" and still exclude you. Before you apply, check these in order:
- The location field. "Remote, Nigeria", "Remote, Africa", "EMEA" or "Anywhere" are promising. "Remote, US", "Remote, UK&I" or a single EU country usually means you need to live there and have the right to work there.
- The body text versus the title. The WilsonHCG ad above lists Nigeria in its eligible countries but says "South Africa" in its title. When the two disagree, ask the recruiter or check the company's own page.
- The hiring time zone. Himalayas shows a hiring time zone on many ads. If the ad needs overlap with US Pacific time, be honest with yourself about whether you can sustain it.
- Payroll and contract wording. "Service fee", "contractor" and "invoice" mean you'll be paid as a contractor, which works from Nigeria. Mentions of US benefits, a 401(k) or a W-2 suggest a US employee role you can't take from Lagos.
- The candidate market. "US Recruiter" means you'll recruit Americans. You can do that from Nigeria, but the employer will test your knowledge of the US market at interview.
"EMEA" means Europe, the Middle East and Africa, so in principle it includes Nigeria. Some employers use it loosely to mean Europe only. Our planned explainer on what EMEA means in a remote job description covers how to tell, and how to verify whether a remote job accepts Nigerian residents goes further.
Working US hours from Nigeria: what it really costs
Most full-time, Nigeria-eligible recruiter roles we found want US Eastern Time. Nigeria stays on WAT (UTC+1) all year. US Eastern is 5 hours behind Lagos during US daylight saving time and 6 hours behind from 1 November 2026.
| US Eastern shift | Lagos time (until 31 Oct 2026) | Lagos time (from 1 Nov 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| 8:30am to 5:30pm | 1:30pm to 10:30pm | 2:30pm to 11:30pm |
| 9am to 5pm | 2pm to 10pm | 3pm to 11pm |
That's a late shift every working day. Before accepting one, plan for these:
- Power through the evening. Your busiest hours are when grid supply is often weakest. An inverter with enough battery for a laptop, a monitor and a router, or a solar setup, matters more than a fast laptop.
- Two internet connections. Limitlessli's ad asks for a backup connection outright. A fixed line or Starlink plus a MiFi or phone hotspot on a different network is the usual answer.
- A quiet room for calls. Recruiters spend much of the day on candidate calls. A noise-cancelling headset helps with generator noise and street sounds.
- Safety and transport. If you work from a hub or office, finishing at 11:30pm needs a plan for getting home.
UK and EMEA recruiting roles are easier on the clock. London is 1 hour behind Lagos in winter and on the same time in summer.
Getting paid and handling tax
Dollar-paying recruiter contracts usually pay through Deel, Remote.com, Payoneer, Wise or a direct USD transfer to a domiciliary account. Which one you get depends on the employer. Our guide to receiving dollar payments in Nigeria compares fees and withdrawal options.
As a contractor, you're responsible for your own Nigerian tax. Our guide to tax for remote workers in Nigeria explains what applies under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025. Keep every invoice and payment record from day one.
Red flags in remote recruiter ads
Recruitment is a common cover for scams because the job title itself sounds trustworthy. Watch for these:
- You must pay for "recruiter training" or a "certification" before you can start. Legitimate employers don't charge you to work for them.
- The "recruiter job" is really sales or a pyramid. If your main task is to find other people who pay a fee to join, it isn't recruiting.
- Commission-only with no client named. You can't judge your earning chances without knowing what roles you'll fill and for whom.
- No company website, or contact only through WhatsApp or Telegram.
- A request for your BVN, bank login or passport before any interview or written offer.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Nigerian work as a US recruiter remotely?
Yes, usually as a contractor for a staffing or recruiting firm that hires offshore. In October 2026, ads from Limitlessli and Talent Hackers named Nigeria as an eligible location for US-focused recruiting roles. Expect US Eastern Time hours and interview questions about the US hiring market.
How much does a remote recruiter in Nigeria earn in dollars?
There's no reliable public figure. One payroll vendor, Plane, estimates a median of $45,452 a year but publishes no methodology. The US BLS median for HR specialists is $75,940 a year (May 2025), but that's US local pay. Most offshore recruiter offers to Nigeria-based workers come in well below US pay, and many ads don't publish pay at all.
Do I need recruiting experience to get a dollar-paying recruiter job?
For full-time roles, usually yes. The Nigeria-eligible ads we opened asked for two to three years of full-cycle recruiting. Beginners have better odds with recruiting coordinator roles or by building a track record in Nigerian recruiting first. Our guide to remote HR and recruitment jobs covers easier entry points.
Are freelance recruiter jobs paid per placement?
Often, yes, but not always. Some freelance recruiter ads list a USD range without saying whether it's per hire, per month or commission. Get the payment basis, the trigger (offer accepted, start date or end of probation) and the payment timing in writing before you source a single candidate.
Do I need a certification to become a remote recruiter?
No certification is legally required. The BLS describes HR certification as generally voluntary in the US, though some employers prefer it. A track record of filled roles, ATS fluency and sourcing skill usually count for more with offshore recruiting employers.
Will I be an employee or a contractor?
Most dollar-paying recruiter roles open to Nigerians are contractor arrangements: you invoice a monthly fee and handle your own tax. Some global companies hire through an employer of record instead, which gives you employee status locally. The ad's wording ("service fee", "contractor", "EOR") usually tells you which.
Is a "recruiter" job that asks me to pay for training legitimate?
No. A real employer pays you to recruit. It doesn't charge you to start. Requests for upfront fees for training, starter kits or "activation" are a standard scam pattern, and you should walk away.
Key takeaways
- Dollar-paying remote recruiter jobs open to Nigerians exist, mostly with US staffing firms, RPO companies and freelance placement platforms.
- Most full-time, Nigeria-eligible roles want 2 to 3 years of full-cycle recruiting and US Eastern Time hours, which run into the late evening in Lagos.
- Public pay data for Nigeria-based recruiters is thin. US figures such as the BLS median of $75,940 a year are benchmarks, not likely offers.
- How you're paid (monthly fee, EOR salary, per placement or commission) matters as much as the headline number.
- Confirm the location field, body text and contract wording on every ad. "Remote" alone does not mean open to Nigeria.
- Never pay to start a recruiting job.
