Best Remote Sales Jobs for Nigerians (and How to Get Hired)
Which remote sales jobs Nigerians can get, real ads open to Nigeria with dollar and naira pay, how to check eligibility and how to get hired abroad.

The remote sales jobs Nigerians get hired for most often are sales development representative (SDR), appointment setter and outbound sales roles. Account executive roles open up once you can show results. Most of these jobs are with US, UK and European companies that hire people in Nigeria as contractors and pay in dollars.
The catch is that many ads saying "remote" are only open to people in the US, Canada or the EU. Many sales jobs also come with long US shifts that run into the Lagos evening.
This guide covers which sales roles to aim for and what each one involves. It shows real ads we checked in October 2026 that named Nigeria or worldwide eligibility, with what they paid in dollars and naira. It also explains how to read an ad's location rules, how to build an application that gets past an international recruiter, and which sales "opportunities" to walk away from.
Quick answer
The best remote sales jobs for Nigerians are SDR, appointment setter, outbound sales and inside sales roles at foreign companies that hire in Africa. Account executive and account manager roles come later, once you have results. Contractor ads open to Nigeria in October 2026 paid roughly $1,000 to $1,700 a month plus commission, mostly on US hours. Always check the ad's country list before applying.
The remote sales roles open to Nigerians, from easiest to hardest to get
Remote sales is not one job. The titles below form a ladder, and where you start depends on what you can prove today.
| Role | What you actually do | Usual way in |
|---|---|---|
| Appointment setter | Call or message leads and book meetings for a closer | Call centre or telesales experience |
| Outbound sales specialist | Cold calls, emails and LinkedIn outreach to a target list | SDR or telesales experience |
| SDR or BDR | Find and qualify prospects, book demos for account executives | 1 to 2 years of sales or lead generation |
| Inside sales rep or closer | Run calls and close deals yourself, often for services | Proven closing record |
| Account executive | Run demos, negotiate and close larger deals | 2 or more years as SDR or seller |
| Account manager | Keep and grow existing customers | Sales or customer success background |
| Business development manager | Partnerships, new markets, bigger strategic deals | Senior sales record |
Appointment setters and outbound sales specialists
These are the most common sales jobs open to Nigeria, and the most demanding on volume. One appointment setter ad we opened asked for 175 to 225 calls a day through an auto-dialer, on 8am to 5pm US Central time. The work is repetitive, but it's measurable. After six months you have numbers to put on your CV. See our appointment setter career guide for the tools and skills, and appointment setter pay for rates.
Sales development representatives (SDRs and BDRs)
An SDR (sales development representative) or BDR (business development representative) fills the calendar for account executives. You research companies, write cold emails, call decision-makers and book qualified meetings. SDR work is the most common way into software (SaaS) sales, which pays better over time. Our SDR career guide covers the path and the tools: HubSpot, Salesforce, Apollo and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Account executives and account managers
Account executives (AEs) close deals. Account managers keep and grow existing customers. Both are harder to get from Nigeria without a track record, because companies hand these people real revenue. Most Nigerians who land AE roles got there by being promoted from SDR or by bringing a closing record from a Nigerian fintech, bank or SaaS company. Read the account executive career guide, and if you come from support, the customer success manager guide is a natural sideways move.
Business development and partnerships
Business development managers open new markets, sign partners and handle bigger, slower deals. Some international companies want someone on the ground in Nigeria or West Africa for this, which makes it one of the few sales jobs where being in Lagos is an advantage. The business development manager guide explains what employers expect.
What "customer acquisition" jobs mean
"Customer acquisition" is mostly another name for sales and growth work. A customer acquisition specialist may be an SDR, an appointment setter or a lead generation specialist. At consumer apps it can also mean a paid-marketing role focused on cost per new customer. Read the duties, not the title. If the ad mentions call targets, booked meetings or a CRM (customer relationship management software), it's a sales job. If it mentions ad budgets, Meta Ads or cost per acquisition, it's closer to marketing, which our lead generation jobs guide covers.
Real remote sales ads open to Nigeria (checked October 2026)
We opened the ads below on 27 October 2026. Each one either named Nigeria in its location list or said the role was home-based worldwide. Ads close and eligibility changes, so treat this table as examples of what real ads look like, not as a list of open jobs.
| Employer (via) | Role | Location stated | Pay stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canonical | Graduate SDR | Home based, worldwide | Not stated, varies by location |
| Huzzle (for a US culinary school) | SDR, Education | Nigeria, South Africa and four others | "Competitive" plus incentives |
| Scale Army (for Accel Health) | SaaS Sales Executive | Egypt, Argentina, Ethiopia, South Africa, Nigeria | $1,200 to $1,700 a month plus commission |
| Scale Army (for Texzen) | Outbound Sales Specialist | Same five countries | $1,000 to $1,200 a month plus commission |
| Scale Army (for a US home-improvement firm) | Appointment Setter | Same five countries | Not readable on the page |
Some details from these ads tell you a lot about the market:
- Canonical's graduate SDR role is listed as "Home based - Worldwide". It asks for strong school and university results and says base pay varies by location. It also requires meeting in person 4 to 6 times a year for events lasting 1 to 2 weeks, which may involve international travel and visas. A Nigerian applicant needs a valid passport and should expect visa applications.
- Huzzle's education SDR ad lists Nigeria by name. It expects 150 or more outbound calls a day in HubSpot, an 80% show rate for booked meetings and a daily Zoom huddle at 9am Mountain time (4pm in Lagos while Mountain is on standard time).
- Scale Army's own internal SDR role did not include Nigeria. It listed Egypt, Kenya, Ethiopia and several Latin American countries. The same agency's client roles did include Nigeria. One company can have different rules for different ads, so check every ad on its own.
Ads like these are usually contractor roles. Scale Army's were all marked "Contract". You invoice for your time, and the company doesn't run payroll or pay tax for you in Nigeria.
What remote sales jobs pay Nigeria-based workers
Remote sales pay for Nigerians usually has two parts: a monthly base (sometimes called a retainer) and commission or bonuses tied to targets. The base is what you can plan around. Commission is what makes sales pay well when you're good at it.
Base pay in ads open to Nigeria
The two Scale Army ads with readable pay give a realistic picture for experienced outbound sellers hired from Africa, as of October 2026:
| Ad | Base in dollars | In naira (₦1,362 to $1) |
|---|---|---|
| Outbound Sales Specialist | $1,000 to $1,200 a month | ₦1,362,000 to ₦1,634,400 |
| SaaS Sales Executive | $1,200 to $1,700 a month | ₦1,634,400 to ₦2,315,400 |
Naira figures use the CBN NFEM weighted average of ₦1,362 to $1, 23 October 2026. You'll receive less after platform and conversion fees, and you'll owe Nigerian tax on what you earn.
Commission comes on top. The SaaS Sales Executive ad asked for 3 to 5 years of customer-facing sales experience, so that $1,700 top end is not a beginner rate. For more role-by-role ranges, see SDR pay in dollars and naira and account executive salaries.
Why US salary figures don't apply to you
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median pay for wholesale and manufacturing sales representatives at $104,920 a year for technical and scientific products and $72,080 for other products (May 2025). Those are medians for workers in the US. A company hiring a contractor in Nigeria will almost always pay well below that, which is the whole reason it hires abroad. Use US figures to judge how much a role is worth to the employer, not to set your expectations.
OTE, quotas and commission-only
Many sales ads quote OTE (on-target earnings), meaning base plus the commission you'd earn if you hit 100% of your quota. A $2,000 OTE with a $1,000 base means half your pay depends on targets. Before accepting, ask what share of the current team hits quota. A role with no base at all is commission-only. Some are genuine, but many simply move the company's risk onto you. Our guides to remote sales jobs with a base salary and commission-only sales jobs explain how to weigh them.
How to find remote sales jobs that accept Nigerian applicants
A remote sales job accepts Nigerian applicants only if the ad's location rules include Nigeria, Africa, a region containing Nigeria, or the whole world. "Remote" on its own tells you nothing. Here is how to read the location line.
| Ad says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Nigeria, or a list that includes Nigeria | Open to you, apply |
| Africa or Sub-Saharan Africa | Usually open, confirm in the form |
| EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) | Often means Europe-based only, check the details |
| Worldwide, anywhere, home based worldwide | Open, but check language and travel needs |
| Remote, US or remote in Canada | Not open without work authorisation there |
| Remote, with a US state or EU country only | Not open |
A few habits save hours of wasted applications:
- Read the whole location field, not just the first country. The Scale Army ads listed Egypt first and Nigeria fifth. Aggregators often show "+4 more countries" and hide the rest.
- Check the application form. Forms that ask "Are you authorised to work in the United States?" or "Which country do you work from?" are telling you who they want. Answer honestly. Lying about location gets you fired at contract or payroll stage.
- Watch the language line. Many "anywhere in the world" SDR ads require German, Danish or Italian because the company sells into those markets. If you speak French, francophone and European sales roles are a real opening for you.
- Search the applicant tracking systems directly. Many companies host their ads on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby or Workable. Search Google for terms like
"sales development representative" Nigeria remotetogether with the name of the platform. - Use a board that filters for Nigeria. On WorkRemote, the business and marketing listings show where applicants may live on each ad.

How to get a remote sales job with an international company
International sales managers hire on proof. They want to see that you can hold a conversation in clear English, handle rejection, and hit numbers in a CRM. Your degree matters far less. This is the sequence we'd follow.
1. Pick one lane and one market
Choose a role (appointment setter, SDR or closer) and a type of buyer, such as US home services, SaaS, healthcare or education. Ads open to Nigeria cluster around US small-business services and B2B software. If you apply to everything, your CV ends up too generic for any of it.
2. Turn your past work into sales numbers
Telesales, bank account opening, POS agent recruitment, insurance, real estate and even customer service all produce numbers. Count calls a day, conversion rates, accounts opened or monthly targets met. If you're coming from support, the guide to moving from customer service to remote sales shows how to reframe that experience.
Example (hypothetical): "Made 120 outbound calls a day for a Lagos microfinance bank; opened 38 new accounts a month against a target of 30 (127% of target) over 9 months."
3. Learn the tools the ads name
The ads above mentioned HubSpot, Five9, Apollo, Instantly, LinkedIn and Google Sheets. Learn one CRM properly and know what a dialer and a sequencing tool do. Our planned guide to CRM skills for remote sales covers which ones matter.
4. Make a two-minute proof pack
Record a short mock cold call (with a friend playing the buyer) and write three cold emails for a real company in your chosen market. Add a one-page summary of your numbers. Put it all in a Google Drive folder you can link from your CV and LinkedIn. Few applicants do this, and it answers the recruiter's main doubt before the first call.
5. Write a CV built for foreign recruiters
Keep it to one or two pages, with no photo, date of birth or state of origin. Use numbers in every bullet and include a line stating your location and the hours you can work, for example: "Based in Lagos (WAT, UTC+1); available for US Eastern hours." The SDR interview questions page shows what they'll ask next.
6. Apply, then contact the hiring manager
After applying, send a short LinkedIn note to the sales manager or recruiter.
Example (hypothetical): "Hi Sarah, I've just applied for your SDR role. I made 150+ calls a day for a Nigerian fintech and booked 22 demos last quarter. I'm in Lagos and already work US Eastern hours. Happy to send a 2-minute cold call recording if useful."
7. Prepare for the role-play
Most sales interviews include a live role-play: a cold call, a discovery call or objection handling. Practise out loud on a timer, and expect objections like "send me an email" and "we already have a provider". Our guide to remote sales role-play assessments walks through the formats.
Time zones, power and internet: the Nigeria-specific part
Sales means live calls, so the buyer's hours are your hours. Most sales ads open to Nigeria run on US time, and US shifts land in the Lagos afternoon and night.
| Shift in the ad | Lagos time, US summer time | Lagos time, US winter time |
|---|---|---|
| 9am to 5pm US Eastern | 2pm to 10pm | 3pm to 11pm |
| 9am to 5pm US Central | 3pm to 11pm | 4pm to midnight |
| 9am to 5pm UK | 9am to 5pm | 10am to 6pm |
US clocks move to winter time on 1 November 2026, so from that date US Eastern is 6 hours behind Lagos. UK and European sales roles fit Nigerian hours far better, which is why our guide to remote jobs with European companies is worth reading if night shifts won't work for you.
Your setup matters more in sales than in most remote jobs, because a dropped call can lose you a deal:
- Power: an inverter or solar backup that lasts a full shift. A generator alone is noisy on calls.
- Internet: two providers, or a MiFi plus a phone hotspot on a different network. Dialers like Five9 run in the browser and need a stable connection.
- Audio: a wired, noise-cancelling headset and a quiet room. Buyers hang up on background noise.
- Phone numbers: the employer usually provides a US number through its dialer. Never pay for one yourself to "qualify" for a job.
Contracts, payment and tax
Most remote sales roles open to Nigerians are contractor arrangements, either directly with the company or through an agency like Huzzle or Scale Army. Some larger employers hire through an employer of record (EOR), which makes you a proper employee with benefits. Our guide to contractor versus employee arrangements explains the difference and what to ask.
Commission makes the payment terms more important than in salaried jobs. Ask when commission is paid (monthly, or only after the customer pays), whether there's a clawback if a customer cancels, and how the base is paid. For receiving dollars, see how to receive dollar payments in Nigeria. Your earnings are taxable in Nigeria, and our tax guide for remote workers covers how that works. Before signing, the planned guide to evaluating a remote sales job offer gives a checklist.
Red flags in remote sales "opportunities"
Sales attracts more dodgy offers than almost any other remote category, because anyone can call a commission scheme a "job". Walk away if you see any of these:
- You pay to start. Training fees, "starter kits", software subscriptions or "registration" before your first sale. Real employers pay you.
- You sell to your own network. If the plan is to sign up friends and family, especially for forex, crypto or investment schemes, it's network marketing, not a sales job.
- There's no product you can check. You should be able to visit the company's website, see real customers and find the hiring manager on LinkedIn.
- The interview happens only on WhatsApp or Telegram. Legitimate sales hiring includes a video call and usually a role-play.
- Commission-only with no named product, no price list and no lead source. You're being asked to work for free on hope.
Our guide to spotting remote job scams in Nigeria covers the wider warning signs.
Frequently asked questions
Can Nigerians get remote sales jobs with US companies?
Yes, when the ad lists Nigeria, Africa or worldwide, or comes through an agency that places African talent with US firms. US roles marked "US only" or that ask about US work authorisation are not open to you. Expect US hours, which run from the afternoon into the night in Lagos.
Which remote sales job is easiest to get from Nigeria?
Appointment setter and outbound sales specialist roles are the most accessible, because they hire on call volume and communication. Most still ask for 1 to 2 years of telesales, call centre or lead generation experience. Complete beginners should read our guide to entry-level remote sales jobs.
How much does a remote SDR earn in Nigeria?
Contractor ads open to Nigeria that we checked in October 2026 offered about $1,000 to $1,700 a month base plus commission for experienced outbound and SaaS sellers. That's ₦1,362,000 to ₦2,315,400 at ₦1,362 to $1 (CBN, 23 October 2026). Entry-level pay is usually lower, and senior AE roles can pay considerably more.
Are commission-only remote sales jobs worth it?
Rarely, for a first remote job. Without a base you carry all the risk, and many commission-only offers have weak products or no leads. Consider one only if the product is real, leads are provided and you can speak to current reps about what they actually earn.
What does a remote customer acquisition specialist do?
A customer acquisition specialist brings in new customers, usually through outbound calls, emails, booked demos or lead generation. At some consumer companies the title covers paid marketing instead. Read the duties in the ad: call and meeting targets point to sales, while ad budgets point to marketing.
Do I need a degree for a remote sales job?
Usually not. Most sales ads open to Nigeria ask for experience, communication and CRM skills rather than a degree. Graduate programmes like Canonical's are the exception: its SDR ad asks for strong school and university results.
What does EMEA mean in a remote sales job ad?
EMEA stands for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In sales ads it often means the role covers buyers in that region, but the company may still want you based in Europe. Check the country list or ask the recruiter before applying.
Does WorkRemote charge to apply for sales jobs?
No. Applying for any job on WorkRemote is always free, and Basic membership lets you see every listing. WorkRemote reviews listings and aims to publish genuine remote roles open to applicants from Nigeria, but it can't check every detail, and employers decide who they hire.
Key takeaways
- The realistic first rungs for Nigerians are appointment setter, outbound sales and SDR roles. AE and account manager roles follow proven results.
- "Remote" means nothing on its own. Apply only where the ad names Nigeria, Africa or worldwide, and read the full country list.
- Ads open to Nigeria that we checked in October 2026 paid about $1,000 to $1,700 a month base plus commission, as contracts.
- Most of these roles run on US hours, which means Lagos afternoons and nights. UK and European roles fit Nigerian daytime.
- A proof pack (a mock call recording, sample cold emails and your sales numbers) answers the recruiter's main doubt before the interview.
- Never pay to start a sales job, and be wary of commission-only offers with no real product or leads.
