Yes, you can apply for remote scheduling assistant jobs from Nigeria. The ones worth your time are usually advertised as executive assistant or virtual assistant roles where calendar and inbox management is the main duty, and the location line names Nigeria, Africa or "anywhere in the world". Most of the ads titled "scheduling assistant" are US-only. If you search only for that title, you'll miss most of the roles you can actually get.

This guide covers what the work involves day to day and how to read the location line. It shows what real Africa-open ads asked for in October 2026, what they paid and what their hours look like in Lagos time. The step-by-step application section includes a calendar exercise you can show an employer instead of a portfolio. Finding calendar management jobs and email management jobs gets its own section, because scheduling and inbox work are nearly always hired as one role.

Quick answer

To apply for a remote scheduling assistant job from Nigeria, search for executive assistant and virtual assistant roles where calendar and inbox management is the main duty. Then:

  • Confirm that Nigeria, Africa or worldwide is listed as eligible.
  • Make sure you can work US or UK hours.
  • Send an English CV as a PDF with figures in it, plus a short video if the ad asks for one.

The Africa-open ads we reviewed in October 2026 wanted about three years' admin experience and asked for Outlook or Google Calendar skills.

What a remote scheduling assistant actually does

A remote scheduling assistant runs one or more people's time from a laptop. You decide what goes on their calendar, when, and in which time zone. Most employers pair this with inbox work, because meeting requests arrive by email.

Calendar management tasks

Typical tasks in the ads we opened:

  • Booking, moving and cancelling meetings, and handling the back-and-forth over email
  • Setting meetings in the right time zone, with buffers for travel or prep
  • Sending reminders and preparing agendas or briefing notes before calls
  • Tracking deadlines, speaking engagements and renewals
  • Booking travel and building itineraries

One worldwide contractor ad from 20four7VA described managing a CEO's Outlook calendar "including scheduling, time zones, and travel time". It also listed agendas, travel and expense receipts (20four7VA ad on Remote Rocketship, checked October 2026).

Email and inbox management tasks

Inbox management means reading someone's email before they do. You sort it, flag what matters, draft replies and archive the rest. A Scale Army Careers ad open to Nigeria put it first in the duties: manage and sort the owner's inbox, flag priorities and draft responses (Scale Army ad on Remote Rocketship, checked October 2026).

A standalone "email management" job is rare. Inbox work is usually a duty inside a VA or executive assistant role, so search for those titles and read the duties.

Title in the adWhat it usually means
Scheduling assistantMostly booking appointments, often US-only
Executive assistantCalendar, inbox and travel for one senior person
Virtual assistant (executive)The same work, usually as a contractor
Calendar/inbox managerPart-time help for founders
Scheduling administrator or coordinatorStaff rotas and client bookings
Appointment setterOutbound calls to book sales meetings (different skill)

Appointment setting is a sales job, not admin work. We cover it in remote appointment setter jobs with commission and base pay and the appointment setter career guide.

Can you apply from Nigeria? Read the location line first

You can apply when the ad names Nigeria, a region that includes Nigeria (Africa, EMEA), or worldwide. You also need to be able to work the stated hours. "Remote" alone tells you nothing about who can apply.

Here's what three ads showed when we checked them in October 2026:

AdLocation shownWhat it tells you
Scale Army Careers, Executive AssistantEgypt, Argentina, Ethiopia, South Africa, NigeriaNigeria named: apply
20four7VA, Executive & Team VAAnywhere in the WorldWorldwide, contractor: apply
Haldren, EA Operations and Scheduling"Remote from Africa"Benefits line said South Africa; ask first

Sources: Scale Army ad, 20four7VA ad, Haldren ad on Jobgether.

The Haldren ad holds two lessons. Its page said "Africa" and its data listed dozens of African countries, but the benefits line referred to South Africa. The ad's own valid-through date was also 15 October 2026, so it had closed before we checked. Before you write a word, check the location line, the benefits section and the closing date. Openings like these change weekly, so check the live ad yourself.

For a full method, see how to verify whether a remote job accepts Nigerian residents. To understand "worldwide" in particular, read what worldwide remote means when applying from Nigeria.

Employee, contractor or agency placement?

Most Africa-open scheduling roles are contractor roles or come through a staffing agency. The 20four7VA ad said the work runs under a master services agreement as an independent contractor, with weekly payments. Scale Army describes itself as a talent placement service that places workers outside the US with US companies. In practice, you're usually working for a US business through a middleman.

That arrangement affects your leave, notice and tax. Our guide to contractor versus employee (EOR) arrangements explains what changes.

What employers ask for

The Africa-open scheduling ads we opened weren't entry-level. They asked for 3 or more years of admin experience; the Haldren ad asked for 5 or more.

The pattern: employers want someone who already writes like a professional and won't embarrass the boss in an email. Your Nigerian office experience counts, whether as a secretary, front desk officer, church or school administrator, or personal assistant to a manager. Describe it the way a foreign recruiter will understand it.

If you're starting with no admin background, scheduling roles are a hard first step. A general VA role is often easier. Our virtual assistant career guide and the guide to remote jobs for Nigerians with no experience cover realistic first steps.

Pay: what the ads and benchmarks show

Pay for Nigeria-based scheduling assistants sits well below US pay for the same work. The figures below show the gap.

FigureSource and typeMonthly equivalent
$1,300 to $1,600 a monthScale Army ad, open to Nigeria, Sept 2026About ₦1.77m to ₦2.18m
$48,310 a yearBLS median, US admin assistants, May 2025About $4,026
$76,590 a yearBLS median, US executive assistants, May 2025About $6,383

Naira conversion at ₦1,362 to $1 (CBN NFEM weighted average, 23 October 2026). BLS figures are from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook.

The BLS medians are for people employed in the US. They show what US employers pay locally. A Lagos-based contractor won't be offered those figures. The Scale Army range is a better guide to what an Africa-open role pays a mid-level assistant. Many of the ads we checked gave no figure at all; 20four7VA said only "competitive rates".

More pay detail is in our executive assistant salary guide and the virtual assistant salary guide.

The hours: working a US or UK calendar from Lagos

Most Africa-open scheduling ads want US Eastern working hours, because the person whose calendar you manage is in the US. Nigeria is on WAT (UTC+1) all year, with no daylight saving.

Employer hoursLagos time, winterLagos time, summer
9am to 5pm US Eastern3pm to 11pm2pm to 10pm
9am to 6pm US Eastern3pm to midnight2pm to 11pm
9am to 5pm UK10am to 6pm9am to 5pm
9am to 5pm US Pacific6pm to 2am5pm to 1am

US Eastern moves to EST on 1 November 2026 (6 hours behind Lagos). UK clocks went back on 25 October 2026, so London is one hour behind Lagos until spring.

Both the Scale Army and 20four7VA ads stated US Eastern hours (9am to 5pm and 9am to 6pm). At the time of writing, that means working from mid-afternoon to late night in Lagos. Before you apply, ask yourself whether your power, data and household can support that every weekday.

The time-zone tools matter more for this job than for most. In Google Calendar you can show extra time zones next to the grid, add a world clock and set each event's time zone separately (Google Calendar Help). Practise these before any skills test.

How to apply, step by step

Here's the sequence we'd follow for a scheduling or calendar-and-inbox role.

  1. Check eligibility and the closing date. Nigeria, Africa or worldwide must be listed, and the ad must still be open.
  2. Check the hours against your life. Convert them to Lagos time using the table above.
  3. Find the tools in the ad. Outlook or Google Calendar, Airtable, Trello, Calendly. If you haven't used one, spend an evening on its free version before applying.
  4. Rewrite your CV for this ad. Lead with calendar, inbox and travel work, with figures. Save it as a PDF.
  5. Build a small proof of skill. See the exercise below.
  6. Record the video if asked. Keep it short and specific.
  7. Answer screening questions like an assistant would. Brief, correct and in full sentences.
  8. Follow up once. Wait about a week and send a polite email, then move on.

Build a proof of calendar skill

Most scheduling applicants have nothing to show except a CV. You can do better with a free Google account and an hour of work.

Example (hypothetical): You create a test calendar for an imaginary founder based in New York.

  • Book a call with a client in London, a supplier in Dubai and a team member in Lagos in the same week.
  • Set each event in its correct time zone, add 15-minute buffers and show Lagos and London as extra time zones.
  • Write a three-line email asking the London client to choose between two slots, with the times shown in their zone.
  • Take a screenshot of the week and save the email draft.

Attach both to your application or link to them from your CV. This shows the employer, in under a minute, the skill they'd otherwise test you on.

For inbox skill, write a one-page "how I triage an inbox" note. List your labels or folders (Action today, Waiting on reply, Read later, Receipts) and say what you'd do with five typical emails. A recruiter can judge your thinking from that page.

Recording the application video

When an ad asks for a recorded video, as Scale Army's did, keep it to about 90 seconds. Cover three things:

  • Who you've supported and for how long
  • One scheduling problem you solved, with the result
  • The hours you can work, stated in the employer's time zone

Speak in a quiet room with your face lit from the front. Our guide to preparing for a one-way video interview covers the technical setup.

CV lines that work for scheduling roles

Example (hypothetical) bullets for a Nigerian office administrator:

  • "Managed the MD's Outlook calendar and inbox for 3 years, booking 20 to 30 meetings a week across Lagos, London and Johannesburg."
  • "Arranged travel and visas for 12 overseas trips with no missed connections."
  • "Set up a shared tracker in Google Sheets that cut double-bookings in the operations team."

Use only figures that are true for you. For the full CV structure, see how to write a virtual assistant CV that gets interviews. For likely interview questions, see our executive assistant interview questions.

How to find remote calendar management jobs

The best calendar management jobs for Nigerians are rarely titled "calendar management". To find them, search for the tasks rather than the title, then filter by location.

Search terms that work

Try these on job boards and in Google:

  • "executive assistant" with "Africa" or "Nigeria"
  • "virtual assistant" with "calendar management"
  • "inbox management" or "email management" with "remote"
  • "executive virtual assistant" with "worldwide"
  • "scheduling coordinator" with "EMEA"

Where they're posted

  • Aggregators that tag location. Jobgether's remote executive assistant jobs for Nigeria page and Remote Rocketship's Nigeria executive assistant page both listed Nigeria-, Africa- and worldwide-tagged EA roles when we checked in October 2026. Remote Rocketship flagged at least one listing as a likely ghost job. Always click through to the employer's own application page.
  • Applicant tracking systems (ATS). These are the hiring tools companies use to post jobs and collect applications. The ads above sent applicants to Ashby and Breezy HR pages. Searches on jobs.lever.co and jobs.ashbyhq.com for "executive assistant" plus "Africa" bring up more.
  • Staffing agencies that place Africa-based assistants with US firms. Several of the Africa-open ads came from agencies of this kind. Agency roles are legitimate when they never ask you for money.
  • Freelance marketplaces. These suit part-time calendar and inbox clients, usually founders. Finding and keeping clients is a separate skill, covered in how to find international virtual assistant clients.
  • WorkRemote. Our admin and HR remote job listings show the company, its website and where applicants may live on every listing.

Setting up to handle someone else's calendar and inbox

An executive's inbox holds contracts, bank notices and personal messages. Employers will expect you to keep it secure and to stay online during their working day.

  • Power: an inverter or solar system that lasts through your whole shift. A late shift on US Eastern time often runs past midnight in Lagos.
  • Internet: two providers, or a MiFi plus a phone hotspot on a different network.
  • Security: two-factor authentication on every work account, a password manager and a laptop nobody else uses.
  • A quiet corner: some ads ask about your workspace in screening, and calls with your executive need a quiet background.

Red flags in scheduling and inbox jobs

Most scam signs here are the general ones. A few show up mainly in assistant roles:

  • You're asked to pay for training, a "starter kit" or software before you start
  • The "executive" sends you a cheque or money to buy equipment or gift cards
  • You're asked to receive and forward parcels or payments
  • The whole interview happens on Telegram or WhatsApp, with no company email or website
  • You're asked for your BVN or bank login before any contract is signed

A real employer may need your NIN and bank details for payment after you've signed a contract. They will never need your passwords or a fee. Our guide to spotting remote job scams in Nigeria goes further, and avoiding scams in virtual assistant job applications covers VA-specific cases.

Frequently asked questions

Can Nigerians get remote scheduling assistant jobs?

Yes, when the ad lists Nigeria, Africa or worldwide as eligible. Many ads titled "scheduling assistant" are US-only. Executive assistant and virtual assistant ads that centre on calendar work are often open to Nigeria, so search for those titles too.

How much do remote scheduling assistants earn from Nigeria?

An Africa-open executive assistant ad we checked in October 2026 paid $1,300 to $1,600 a month (about ₦1.77m to ₦2.18m at ₦1,362 to $1). US medians from the BLS are much higher, but they describe US-based employees, not offshore contractors. Many ads give no figure at all.

Do I need experience to become a remote calendar management assistant?

Usually yes. The Africa-open ads we opened asked for three or more years in admin or executive support. Office admin, front desk and PA work in Nigeria counts. If you have none, start with a general VA role and build up.

Are there remote email management jobs for virtual assistants?

Yes, but inbox management is rarely hired on its own. It's usually a duty inside a virtual assistant or executive assistant role, alongside calendar work. Search for "inbox management" or "email management" together with "virtual assistant", then read the duties.

What software should a scheduling assistant know?

Outlook and Google Calendar come first. The ads we opened named Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Airtable, Trello and SharePoint. Booking tools such as Calendly are common in founder roles. Free versions of most of these are enough to practise on.

What hours will I work for a US company?

Usually US Eastern business hours. From 1 November 2026 that's 3pm to 11pm in Lagos for a 9am to 5pm day, and 2pm to 10pm in US summer. UK roles run 10am to 6pm Lagos time in winter and 9am to 5pm in summer.

How do I get paid for a contractor scheduling job?

Usually in dollars to a Payoneer, Wise, Grey or similar account, or through Deel, then withdrawn to a Nigerian bank. One worldwide ad we checked paid weekly. Compare fees in our guide to receiving dollars in Nigeria.

Key takeaways

  • Search for executive and virtual assistant titles, not only "scheduling assistant", because most scheduling-titled ads are US-only.
  • Read the location line, the benefits section and the closing date before applying.
  • The Africa-open ads we opened wanted about three or more years' admin experience, an English PDF CV and often a recorded video.
  • Expect US Eastern hours, which fall in the afternoon and late evening in Lagos.
  • A one-hour calendar exercise and an inbox triage note can stand in for a portfolio.
  • Pay for Nigeria-based assistants is far below US medians; an Africa-open ad paid $1,300 to $1,600 a month in September 2026.
