Remote LinkedIn marketing jobs pay you to win business for a company on LinkedIn. The work can mean running paid ads, writing posts for a founder, managing a company page, or messaging prospects and booking sales calls. Nigerians can and do get these roles, mostly with B2B companies and agencies abroad, but each ad sets its own location rules and pay varies a lot between job types.

The confusing part is that "LinkedIn marketing" is not one job. A LinkedIn Ads specialist and a LinkedIn outreach specialist share a platform, but their skills, tools and pay are very different. This guide sets out the five main types and shows what real ads open to applicants worldwide looked like in October 2026. It also covers what the work pays, the free LinkedIn certification worth taking and how to build proof of your skills from Nigeria before anyone hires you.

Quick answer

Remote LinkedIn marketing jobs fall into five types: paid LinkedIn Ads management, ghostwriting posts for executives, B2B company page or social media management, outreach and lead generation, and LinkedIn-focused strategy or demand generation. Many ads accept applicants worldwide, but some limit applicants to specific countries or require US working hours. Entry-level outreach roles can pay around $500 to $1,000 a month. Ads and strategy roles pay more and expect proven results.

What LinkedIn marketing work actually involves

Companies pay for LinkedIn marketing because LinkedIn is where business buyers have their job titles on public display. LinkedIn's own advertising page says advertisers can target by job title, function, industry and over 20 audience attribute categories. If you sell payroll software, you can put an ad in front of HR directors at companies with 200 or more staff. That precision is why LinkedIn is mostly a B2B (business-to-business) channel, and why most LinkedIn marketing jobs are with software companies, agencies, consultancies and recruitment firms.

The work splits into two halves:

  • Paid: spending a company's budget on LinkedIn ads through Campaign Manager, LinkedIn's advertising dashboard.
  • Organic and direct: posts, company pages, personal brands for founders, and one-to-one outreach through messages and connection requests.

Very few companies need one person for all of it. A typical small B2B company abroad hires someone for one half, often as a contractor.

The five main types of remote LinkedIn marketing jobs

Ghostwriting and personal brandingWrite posts in a founder's voiceLinkedIn Ghostwriter, LinkedIn Content Strategist
Company page and B2B socialRun the brand page and content calendarB2B Social Media Manager, Content Marketer
Outreach and lead generationFind prospects, message them, book callsLinkedIn Outreach Specialist, Lead Generation Specialist

LinkedIn Ads specialist (paid social)

A LinkedIn Ads specialist decides who sees a company's ads, writes or briefs the creative, sets budgets and bids, and reports on cost per lead. LinkedIn lists its formats as Sponsored Content in the feed, Sponsored Messaging, Dynamic Ads and Text Ads. Most ads for this role ask for experience with Campaign Manager plus Google Ads, because B2B companies rarely advertise on LinkedIn alone.

This is the hardest LinkedIn role for a beginner to get, because a company is trusting you with its money. Employers want to see campaigns you have run and the results they produced. If you already run Facebook and Instagram ads, the move is easier. Our planned guide to getting a remote Meta Ads specialist job covers that platform, and the PPC specialist career guide covers paid search.

LinkedIn ghostwriter or personal brand writer

Founders, consultants and executives abroad pay writers to post on their behalf. You interview the client, turn their opinions into posts that sound like them, schedule the posts and sometimes reply to comments. Good writers who understand a niche (SaaS, fintech, recruitment, healthcare) get repeat clients.

For Nigerians, this is one of the most accessible LinkedIn routes, because it mainly needs strong written English and clients judge you on samples. Most of it is freelance, paid per post or as a monthly retainer. The ghostwriter career guide covers rates and finding clients.

Company page and B2B social media manager

Many marketing ads ask for a social media manager who "owns LinkedIn" alongside other channels. The job is a content calendar, company page posts, carousels made in Canva, employee advocacy (getting staff to share posts) and monthly reporting. Compared with consumer social media management, the tone is more professional and success is measured in demo requests rather than likes. See the social media manager career guide for the general skills.

LinkedIn outreach and lead generation specialist

Outreach is the most common LinkedIn job you will see in remote ads open to Nigerians, and it sits closer to sales than to marketing. You build a list of target buyers, often with LinkedIn Sales Navigator (LinkedIn's paid prospecting tool) or Apollo. You send connection requests and follow-up messages, track replies in a CRM (customer relationship management system) and book calls for the client's sales team.

If you like this kind of work, it can lead into sales development. The sales development representative career guide and the appointment setter career guide cover the next steps, and our planned article on lead generation jobs for beginners goes deeper on entry routes.

LinkedIn marketing strategist or demand generation

At the senior end, a demand generation or growth marketer owns the whole pipeline. That means paid LinkedIn, organic content, outbound sequences and the reporting that ties them to revenue. These roles usually go to people who have already done one of the four jobs above, and they pay the most. For the wider B2B picture, see our planned guide on finding remote B2B marketing jobs.

What real remote LinkedIn marketing ads look like (October 2026)

We opened live ads to show what employers are actually asking for. These are examples, not recommendations. Eligibility and pay change, so always read the live ad before applying.

LinkedIn Marketing & Outreach Specialist, Online Team Member. We checked this ad on 27 October 2026. It is a full-time remote role at a staffing agency that places assistants with US and Canadian businesses. The ad says it is open to candidates from all countries and lists base pay of $6,000 to $12,000 a year. The duties are outreach campaigns, lead qualification, booking discovery calls, suggesting post ideas and reporting. Applicants send a CV and a link to a video introduction. Sales Navigator, Apollo and email outreach tools are listed as nice to have. The ad says to apply before 22 December 2026.

Demand Gen / Growth, Founding Hire, Holocene. We checked this ad on 27 October 2026. It is a senior, full-time remote role open to candidates from all countries, with no salary listed. The work is multi-touch outbound across email and LinkedIn, aimed at supply chain and procurement leaders. Applicants must give one real example of getting a meeting at a company where nobody knew the brand, including the angle and the number of touches. Strong written English is required and German is a plus. The tools named are Apollo, Clay, Sales Navigator and HubSpot.

LinkedIn Ads Specialist, unnamed HR services company. This B2B paid media role was listed for Kenya on US Eastern hours and asked for two years' experience. Applications had closed by the time we checked. It is still worth knowing about, because it shows a common pattern: an "Africa" job that is in fact open to one named country.

Three lessons from these ads:

  • Outreach roles open to everyone are the easiest to find, and their pay is modest.
  • Senior roles ask for proof of a specific result, not a list of skills.
  • "Remote" never means "open to Nigeria" until the location line says so.

Can you apply from Nigeria? Reading the location line

Yes, you can apply if the ad's applicant location includes Nigeria, Africa as a whole, your time zone or "anywhere", and the role doesn't need existing work authorisation in another country. Check four things on every ad:

  1. Applicant location. "Anywhere" or "worldwide" usually includes Nigeria. Our planned guide on what "worldwide remote" means for Nigerian applicants explains the exceptions.
  2. Named countries. "Kenya", "South Africa" or "Philippines" means only those countries, even if the ad is posted on an Africa job board.
  3. Working hours. "US Eastern hours" means evenings in Lagos (see the time-zone section below).
  4. Contract type. Most of these roles are contractor arrangements, not employment. The contractor vs employee guide explains what that means for your rights and pay.

If the location is unclear, ask the recruiter one direct question before you spend an hour on the application: "Is this role open to contractors based in Nigeria?"

How much remote LinkedIn marketing jobs pay

Pay depends mostly on which of the five jobs you do, then on whether you can show results. No reliable salary survey covers "LinkedIn marketing" as a job title, so here is what the evidence we found shows, labelled by source.

SourceWhat it showsType of figure
Online Team Member ad, Oct 2026$6,000 to $12,000 a year for outreach, open worldwideRange from a live job ad
US BLS, May 2025$165,780 a year median for US advertising, promotions and marketing managersUS median, a benchmark only

The Online Team Member range works out at $500 to $1,000 a month. At WorkRemote's house rate of ₦1,362 to $1 (CBN NFEM weighted average, 23 October 2026), that is about ₦681,000 to ₦1,362,000 a month before fees and tax.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the May 2025 median at $166,790 for marketing managers and $133,660 for advertising and promotions managers. Those are US salaries for people living in the US, usually with a degree and several years' experience. A Nigeria-based contractor at a foreign company will almost always be offered less. Use the BLS figures to see how far up the ladder goes, not as a target for your first offer.

What moves your pay up:

  • Moving from outreach to paid ads or strategy. Managing ad spend and owning pipeline numbers pays more than sending messages.
  • Showing numbers. "Booked 14 qualified calls in a month" carries more weight than "managed LinkedIn outreach".
  • Specialising in a niche. A ghostwriter who knows fintech or SaaS can charge more than a generalist.
  • Retainers over one-off work. Monthly arrangements give you steadier income than single projects.

For pay in related roles, see the salary guides for social media managers, digital marketing specialists and PPC specialists.

Skills, tools and the free LinkedIn certification

Tools named in real ads

  • LinkedIn Campaign Manager for paid ads.
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator for finding and filtering prospects.
  • Apollo and Clay for building prospect lists and enriching contact data.
  • HubSpot or Salesforce for CRM tracking.
  • Canva for carousels and post graphics.
  • Google Workspace and Slack for day-to-day work with the team.

The writing skills matter as much as the tools. Every type of LinkedIn job comes down to writing short, clear messages a busy professional will actually read.

The LinkedIn Marketing Academy certifications

LinkedIn runs a free training site called the LinkedIn Marketing Academy (some older pages call it Marketing Labs). As of October 2026, its certifications page lists four English-language certifications:

  • LinkedIn Advertising Fundamentals
  • LinkedIn Marketing Strategy
  • LinkedIn Content and Creative Design
  • LinkedIn Marketing Measurement

The Academy FAQ says all courses and certifications are free (you need a LinkedIn profile). It also says each certificate is valid for two years and you may use your own notes during exams. LinkedIn's help page on the exams sets out the format: 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, a 75% pass mark and up to three retakes. You don't need to take any prerequisite course.

Do the Advertising Fundamentals certification first if you're aiming for paid roles, and Marketing Strategy if you want content or strategy work. A certificate alone won't get you hired, but it's free and it shows on your profile, which is where LinkedIn-focused recruiters will look first. Our planned guide to digital marketing certifications for remote jobs compares it with the Google and HubSpot options.

What it costs to practise LinkedIn Ads from Nigeria

LinkedIn's budget guidance sets a minimum daily budget of $10 per campaign for any ad format, and a minimum lifetime budget of $100 for a new campaign. At ₦1,362 to $1 (CBN, 23 October 2026), that is about ₦13,620 a day or ₦136,200 for the smallest lifetime campaign. You will also need a card that works for international payments.

That is real money for a practice run, so spend it only when you have something to promote, such as your own service, a friend's business or a small B2B brand willing to cover the spend. Before then, you can learn a lot for free. Build campaign plans in Campaign Manager without launching them, and write targeting and budget proposals you can show in interviews.

How to build proof without a client

Employers hiring for LinkedIn roles check your own LinkedIn first. Your profile is your portfolio, so treat it that way. Our planned guide on writing a LinkedIn profile for remote jobs covers the profile itself. Below are ways to create evidence of your skills.

Example (hypothetical): a 30-day ghostwriting sample. Amaka, a content writer in Enugu, offers to write four weeks of posts for a Lagos fintech founder she knows, for free or a small fee. She records each post's impressions and comments, plus the two inbound enquiries the founder gets. Her case study is one page: the founder's goal, her process, three sample posts and the numbers.

Example (hypothetical): an outreach case study. Tunde, a graduate in Ibadan, wants outreach work. He picks a real Nigerian B2B service, such as an IT support firm, and with the owner's permission builds a list of 100 target companies. He writes a three-message sequence and tracks reply and meeting rates in a Google Sheet. That one documented campaign answers exactly what the Holocene ad asks for: one real example of getting a meeting, with the angle and the number of touches.

Other proof that works:

  • Post on your own profile about the niche you want to work in, three times a week for two months. Recruiters will judge your writing from those posts.
  • Write a teardown of a real company's LinkedIn ads, pulled from its "Ad Library" or "Posts" tab, with what you would change.
  • Earn one LinkedIn Marketing Academy certificate and add it to your profile.

The planned guide on building a digital marketing portfolio without clients has more formats.

How to apply for remote LinkedIn marketing jobs, step by step

  1. Pick one of the five job types. Your CV, profile headline and samples should all point at it. "LinkedIn Ghostwriter for SaaS founders" beats "Digital marketer | Social media | Content | Ads".
  2. Make one piece of proof (see the examples above) before you apply widely.
  3. Search the right titles. Use "LinkedIn Ads", "paid social", "B2B social media", "LinkedIn outreach", "lead generation", "ghostwriter" and "demand generation", not just "LinkedIn marketing".
  4. Filter by location first. Open the ad, confirm Nigeria or worldwide eligibility, and check the working hours.
  5. Tailor the first lines. Open with the result most relevant to the ad, for example "Booked 11 discovery calls in 30 days through LinkedIn outreach for a B2B IT firm".
  6. Do the extra task properly. Many ads ask for a video introduction or a written example. Applicants who skip it are usually filtered out.
  7. Track every application with the date, role type and outcome, so you can see which job type is getting you replies.

Nigeria-specific realities

Working hours

LinkedIn marketing for US clients means overlapping with US office hours. From 1 November 2026, US Eastern is on EST, six hours behind Lagos, so a 9am to 5pm Eastern shift runs 3pm to 11pm in Lagos. In US summer (EDT), the same shift runs 2pm to 10pm. UK clients are easier: in winter (GMT), 9am to 5pm in London is 10am to 6pm in Lagos. Outreach and ghostwriting are often asynchronous, so ask whether fixed hours are actually required.

Power, internet and account security

Back up your power with an inverter, solar or a generator, and keep two internet options, such as a MiFi plus a phone hotspot. A failed connection during a client call does more harm than a slow one.

Be careful with LinkedIn accounts. If a client asks you to log in to their account from Lagos, a login from a new country can trigger LinkedIn security checks. Agree how access will work (shared access, an authenticator app or delegated page roles) before you start. Never put your own account at risk by running aggressive automation tools for a client. A restricted profile damages your job search too.

Getting paid

Most of these roles pay in dollars by bank transfer, Payoneer, Wise or an EOR (employer of record) platform such as Deel. Our guide on receiving dollar payments in Nigeria compares the options and fees. Foreign income is still taxable, and the remote work tax guide explains how that works under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025.

Red flags in LinkedIn marketing job ads

  • Commission-only "lead generation" with no base pay, especially when the commission depends on a sale you can't control.
  • Paying for training, a "LinkedIn Premium starter pack" or a "certification fee" before you start. The official LinkedIn certifications are free.
  • Being asked to use your own LinkedIn account to send hundreds of automated messages for a company you can't verify.
  • Pay far above the role's level, such as $4,000 a month for entry-level outreach with no interview.
  • Moving straight to Telegram or WhatsApp with no company website, contract or named hiring manager.

Frequently asked questions

Can Nigerians get remote LinkedIn marketing jobs?

Yes, when the ad accepts applicants based in Nigeria or worldwide. In October 2026 we found live LinkedIn outreach and demand generation ads open to candidates from all countries. Other ads were limited to named countries such as Kenya or South Africa, so check the location line on each ad.

What does a LinkedIn marketing specialist do?

It depends on the role. Some run paid ads in Campaign Manager, some write posts for executives, some manage company pages and some do outreach to book sales calls. Read the duties section of an ad before assuming which one it is.

How much do remote LinkedIn marketing jobs pay?

Entry-level outreach roles can pay about $500 to $1,000 a month, based on a live worldwide ad from October 2026. Paid ads, ghostwriting with a niche and demand generation pay more once you can show results. US manager medians from the BLS are much higher, but they are US local salaries, not offers for Nigeria-based contractors.

Is the LinkedIn Marketing Strategy certification free?

Yes. LinkedIn's Marketing Academy says all its courses and certifications are free. The exam has 60 questions in 60 minutes with a 75% pass mark and up to three retakes, and the certificate lasts two years.

Do I need a degree to get a LinkedIn marketing job?

Usually not for outreach, ghostwriting or social media roles, where samples and results matter more. Senior marketing manager roles at larger companies more often list a degree, but a strong record of results can make up for it.

How much money do I need to practise LinkedIn Ads?

LinkedIn's minimum is $10 a day per campaign, and $100 lifetime for a new campaign. That is about ₦13,620 a day or ₦136,200 at ₦1,362 to $1 (CBN, 23 October 2026). You can learn campaign setup and planning for free before spending anything.

Is LinkedIn outreach the same as sales?

It overlaps heavily. Outreach specialists find prospects and book meetings, and the client's sales team usually closes the deal. Many people use outreach roles as a route into sales development representative jobs.

Key takeaways

  • "LinkedIn marketing" covers five different jobs: paid ads, ghostwriting, company page management, outreach and demand generation.

  • Paid ads and strategy roles pay more but expect proof of campaigns you have run.
  • The LinkedIn Marketing Academy certifications are free and worth adding to your profile.
  • Your own LinkedIn profile and one documented case study matter more than a list of skills.
  • Check the location line, working hours and contract type on every ad before applying.
