What affects your pay
Hours. Roles that ask for US hours tend to pay more than those on Nigerian or UK hours, because fewer people will work until 10pm or midnight Lagos time.
Channel depth. Generalist "marketing coordinator" roles at outsourcing firms sit at the bottom of the range. Someone who can show they've managed real Meta or Google budgets profitably is paid like a specialist.
Who's hiring. Staffing and outsourcing agencies that place Nigerians with US clients often pay a fixed monthly rate of around $1,000 to $2,000. Hiring the company directly usually pays more but is harder to get.
Contract or employment. Most roles are contracts with no pension, health cover or paid leave. An employer-of-record job through Deel or Remote.com may pay a similar headline figure with benefits on top.
Negotiating your offer
Quote your number in dollars a month, not naira, and base it on the role's hours and channels, not your last Nigerian salary. If a recruiter asks first, give a range whose bottom you'd be happy with.
Ask who pays transfer and withdrawal fees. On $1,500 a month, a few per cent lost between Deel, Payoneer and your bank adds up.
If they can't move on pay, ask for paid time off, a power or internet allowance, or a pay review after three months tied to results you agree in writing.
