What affects your pay
Budget size. Managing $20,000 a month and managing $500,000 a month are different jobs. Pay follows the scale of spend you can be trusted with.
Industry. Fintech, apps and iGaming often pay more for user acquisition because each customer is worth a lot. Small e-commerce brands pay less but may add revenue bonuses.
Measurement skills. Candidates who can run incrementality tests and work with marketing mix models get the senior roles.
Bonus structure. Growth roles often include performance bonuses. Ask exactly what triggers them and whether contractors are eligible.
Negotiating your offer
Talk in the employer's numbers. "I scaled spend from $40,000 to $150,000 a month while keeping payback under 90 days" is the kind of line that justifies the top of a range.
Ask whether the posted range is global or location-adjusted, and whether the bonus is on top. Get the bonus terms written into the contract.
If you'll own a live budget out of US hours, ask how on-call and weekend checks are handled, and price that in.

For senior people with large-budget experience, yes, but it's at the top end. Plane's estimate puts the 90th percentile for remote marketing managers in Nigeria at about $122,000; most earn well below that.

Often. Nectar Life's 2026 ad, for example, listed a performance bonus on top of $55K to $70K. Check whether contractors qualify.
How does this compare with US pay?
The BLS median for US marketing managers was $166,790 in May 2025. Remote roles open to Nigeria pay a fraction of that, because most are priced for the region.
