Remote mobile developer pay by level
Yearly pay in US dollars for remote mobile developer roles open to people outside the US and UK, then the same figures in naira a month.
| Level | Dollars a year | Naira a month |
|---|---|---|
| Mid | $44,000 to $50,000 | ₦4,994,000 to ₦5,675,000 |
| Senior | $62,000 to $73,000 | ₦7,037,000 to ₦8,286,000 |
Naira at ₦1,362 to $1, 23 October 2026 (CBN NFEM weighted average), before tax and transfer fees, rounded to the nearest ₦1,000. The rate moves, so treat naira figures as a guide.
Where these figures come from
- Mid
- Lemon.io active contracts with Nigerian developers, 2-5 years' experience: $21-$24 an hour annualised at 2,080 hours (Q3 2026). Covers all developer specialisms; Arc's self-reported Nigerian app developer average is $51,778.
- Senior
- Lemon.io Nigeria contracts, senior (5-8 years): $30-$35 an hour, annualised at 2,080 hours (Q3 2026). Strong seniors (8+ years) earn $35-$40 an hour, about $73,000-$83,000, but they make up only 3% of the 518 Nigerian contracts.
How that compares
Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.
- US median, software developers (BLS, May 2025) (bls.gov)$135,980 a year
- UK median, permanent jobs citing React Native (IT Jobs Watch, 6 months to Oct 2026) (itjobswatch.co.uk)£90,000 a year
- Average expected salary, Nigerian app developers on Arc (self-reported) (arc.dev)$51,778 a year
- Nigeria median, software engineers, all levels (Levels.fyi, self-reported) (levels.fyi)₦7,133,835 a year
What affects your pay
Framework. In the UK data we checked, React Native jobs had a high median (£90,000 across 138 quoted salaries in the six months to October 2026). Flutter had far fewer UK ads with salaries, so we would not read much into its figure. In remote work, demand for both depends on the company's existing stack.
Native depth. Cross-platform developers who can write native modules in Kotlin or Swift and fix build problems are paid more than those who only work in JavaScript or Dart.
Release ownership. Developers who can run the whole release process, from signing to store review to staged rollout, are trusted with more and paid more.
Sector. Fintech, health and logistics apps with payments, offline use or location features pay more than brochure apps for agencies.
Negotiating your offer
Bring store links and numbers: downloads, ratings, crash-free sessions, app size reductions. "Crash-free sessions went from 96% to 99.6% after I fixed our image caching" is a strong opener.
If the role needs you to test on iOS, ask whether they provide a MacBook or an iPhone, or an equipment allowance. It is a reasonable request and worth real money.
Ask for the budget first, quote in annual dollars, and confirm payment platform, timing and fees in writing.
Questions people ask
How much do remote mobile developers earn in Nigeria?
About $44,000-$50,000 a year at mid-level and $62,000-$73,000 at senior level, based on Lemon.io's Q3 2026 Nigerian contract data. Arc's Nigerian app developers report an average expected salary of $51,778.
Do Flutter developers earn less than React Native developers?
We do not have reliable Nigeria-specific data to compare them. UK job ads mention React Native far more often. Pay depends more on experience and the company than the framework.
Do mobile developers earn more than web developers?
Roughly the same in the data we have. Arc's Nigerian app developer average ($51,778) sits between its front-end ($50,582) and back-end ($54,975) figures.
Will a remote employer pay for my MacBook?
Some do, especially for long contracts, and some offer an equipment allowance. Many contractors are expected to bring their own. Ask during the offer stage.

Salaries for related roles
- Android Developer
An Android developer builds native apps for Android phones and tablets, today mostly in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose. It is one of the cheapest software careers to start from Nigeria (no Mac needed, $25 once to publish on Google Play), and remote companies hire Nigerian Android developers, usually at mid-level and above.
- iOS Developer
An iOS developer builds native apps for iPhone and iPad in Swift, mostly with SwiftUI and some UIKit. You can do it remotely from Nigeria, but it costs more to start than Android: you need a Mac for Xcode, ideally an iPhone, and $99 a year to publish on the App Store.
- Frontend Developer
A frontend developer builds the part of a website or web app people see and click, mostly with HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript and React. It is one of the most common remote tech jobs open to Nigerians, but it is also the most crowded, so you need polished, fast, accessible work to get noticed.
- Full Stack Developer
A full stack developer builds both the user interface and the server side of a product, often React or Next.js on the front and Node.js, Python, Laravel or Rails behind it with a SQL database. Startups hiring remotely like full stack developers because one person can ship a whole feature, and many Nigerians land remote work this way after a few years at an agency or startup.
