How to Find Remote Snowflake Developer Jobs From Nigeria

Find remote Snowflake developer jobs open to Nigerians: titles to search, reading worldwide and EMEA ads, SnowPro costs in naira, and free-trial projects.

You find remote Snowflake developer jobs by searching for the job titles that actually use Snowflake (data engineer, analytics engineer, BI developer), filtering for ads open to "worldwide", "EMEA" or "Africa", and applying with proof that you've built something in Snowflake. Very few ads say "Snowflake developer" in the title, and most remote Snowflake roles are restricted to the US or Europe, so the search takes method rather than luck.

This guide is for Nigerians who already write decent SQL and want a dollar-paying role on the Snowflake Data Cloud. We cover the titles to search, where these jobs are posted, how to read the location line in an ad, what SnowPro certification costs in naira, how to build a portfolio on Snowflake's free trial, and what pay to expect. We also show a real Snowflake ad marked "Worldwide" as of October 2026, including the small print a Nigerian applicant has to check.

Quick answer

Search for "Snowflake" inside data engineer, analytics engineer and BI developer ads, not just "Snowflake developer". Use remote boards that tag location (Worldwide, EMEA), company hiring pages on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, and data consultancies. Apply only where the ad accepts people living in Nigeria. Show strong SQL, dbt, Python and one cloud, plus a Snowflake project you built on the free 30-day trial.

Snowflake is a cloud data platform. Companies load data from their apps, payments systems and marketing tools into it, then model and query that data for reports, dashboards and machine learning. A "Snowflake developer" is whoever builds and maintains that setup: loading pipelines, SQL transformations, data models, access controls and cost tuning.

Most employers never use that exact title. If you search only for "Snowflake developer", you'll miss most of the openings. Search the skill, not the label.

Job title in the adWhat the Snowflake work usually looks like
Data EngineerPipelines into Snowflake, orchestration, performance
Analytics Engineerdbt models in Snowflake for analysts and BI
BI DeveloperViews and marts feeding Power BI, Tableau or Looker
Snowflake Developer / EngineerOften consultancy or contract work, migrations
Data Platform EngineerAccount setup, roles, cost control, Terraform
Data ArchitectDesigning the warehouse and migration plans (senior)

Analytics engineering is the friendliest entry point if you come from data analysis, because the work is mostly SQL and dbt. We cover that path separately in our guide to remote analytics engineer jobs. If you're weighing Snowflake against its main rival, see remote Databricks jobs and the roles behind them.

Where remote Snowflake jobs are actually posted

Remote job boards that tag location

Boards that show a location tag on every ad save you hours. On the Snowflake tag page of EU Remote Jobs, when we checked on 27 October 2026, most recent ads were tagged "Europe", "UK", "US" or "LATAM", a few were tagged "EMEA", and two were tagged "Worldwide". That pattern is typical: Snowflake ads open to Nigeria exist, but they're a small share.

We also checked the Snowflake page on Arc's remote jobs board the same day. None of the ten listings shown was open to Africa or worldwide; they were limited to the US, North America, the UK, Romania or a list of European countries. Treat that as a reminder to filter, not as a reason to give up.

Company hiring pages on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby

Many tech companies post jobs on applicant tracking systems (ATS) whose pages Google indexes. Searching those domains directly surfaces ads before they reach aggregators. Useful searches:

  • site:job-boards.greenhouse.io snowflake remote EMEA
  • site:jobs.lever.co snowflake remote worldwide
  • site:jobs.ashbyhq.com snowflake dbt remote
  • "snowflake" "dbt" remote "anywhere"
  • "analytics engineer" snowflake remote Africa

Google's site: filter isn't always strict, so open each result and read the location line yourself.

Data consultancies and Snowflake partners

Consultancies that implement Snowflake for clients hire a lot of Snowflake engineers, and some hire across many countries. Lumenalta's careers page, for example, says you can have a career with them "from anywhere in the world" (checked 27 October 2026), though the page doesn't list countries, so read each individual ad. When you look at consultancies, check whether you'd be an employee or a contractor, and which client time zone you'd cover.

Freelance and contract work

Migration projects (Oracle, SQL Server or Teradata to Snowflake) often go to contractors. Freelance platforms and LinkedIn posts from consultancies are where these appear. Contract rates can be good, but you invoice, chase payment and handle tax yourself. Our explainer on contractor versus employee arrangements sets out what changes for you.

WorkRemote listings

On WorkRemote's tech job listings, each ad shows where applicants may live, so searching "Snowflake", "dbt" or "data engineer" there gives you roles aimed at people in Nigeria. We review listings and aim to publish genuine remote roles open to applicants from Nigeria, but we can't check every detail, and the employer decides who gets hired.

How to tell if a Snowflake job is open to someone in Nigeria

Read the location line first, then the body of the ad, then the application form. The application form often asks "Which country do you live in?" or "Are you authorised to work in X?", and that question is the real filter.

What the ad saysWhat it means for you in Nigeria
Remote (US) or US-onlyNot open to you, usually for payroll and tax reasons
Remote, Europe or EUUsually needs EU residence or work rights
EMEAPossibly open; Africa is in EMEA but many firms mean Europe only
Africa or NigeriaOpen, check time-zone needs
Worldwide or AnywhereOpen, unless the small print adds limits

Our planned explainers on what EMEA means in a job ad and what "worldwide remote" means from Nigeria go further. For the full checking routine, see how to verify whether a remote job accepts Nigerian residents.

A real example: "Worldwide" with small print

As of 27 October 2026, Solvd had a Senior Data Engineer (Snowflake) ad tagged "Worldwide" and posted about four days earlier. The ad asks for strong hands-on Snowflake experience (transformation, modelling, performance optimisation), practical dbt, Python, ETL/ELT pipelines and some DevOps with containers and Kubernetes. Snowflake certification and Oracle-to-Snowflake migration experience are listed as preferred, not required.

Here's the small print. The ad says the role involves regular technical discussions with US-based teams, and its preferred qualifications mention occasional trips to St. Louis in the US, roughly once every three weeks. For someone in Nigeria, that raises two questions before you apply: would you need a US visa, and are the travel expectations a preference or a real requirement? Ask the recruiter directly at the first call. The ad may have closed by the time you read this, so treat it as an example of how to read an ad, not as a live vacancy.

Skills that Snowflake job ads keep asking for

Snowflake itself is the easy part. Ads filter on the skills around it.

  • Advanced SQL: window functions, CTEs, MERGE, semi-structured data (VARIANT columns and JSON).
  • Data modelling: star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and when to build a wide table instead.
  • dbt: models, tests, sources, incremental models and documentation. Many Snowflake ads list dbt by name.
  • Python: scripting loads, calling APIs, and Snowpark if the team uses it.
  • Orchestration: Airflow, Dagster or Prefect, or Snowflake tasks.
  • Loading tools: Snowpipe, COPY INTO, stages, and tools like Fivetran or Airbyte.
  • One cloud: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, because Snowflake runs on top of them.
  • Cost and performance: warehouse sizing, clustering, query profiling. Clients pay per compute used, so engineers who cut the bill get noticed.
  • Access control: roles, grants and masking policies.

For the wider career path (courses, tools and a step-by-step route), see our data engineer career guide. If SQL is your main strength and you aren't sure Snowflake is your lane yet, our planned guide to qualifying for remote SQL developer jobs is a sensible starting point.

SnowPro certification: is it worth the money?

A SnowPro certification won't get you hired on its own, but it helps when a recruiter is screening 200 CVs and your experience is with a less familiar Nigerian company. Several ads, including the Solvd example above, list Snowflake certification as a "preferred" qualification.

Snowflake's own certification pages wouldn't load when we checked, so the fees below come from an exam-prep guide that says it rechecked Snowflake's official sources on 23 October 2026. Confirm the price in Snowflake's registration portal before you pay.

ExamFee (USD)About in naira
SnowPro Core (COF-C03)$175₦238,000
SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer (DEA-C02)$375₦511,000
SnowPro Advanced: Architect (ARA-C01)$375₦511,000

Naira figures use ₦1,362 to $1 (CBN NFEM weighted average, 23 October 2026), rounded. Fees are as of October 2026.

According to the same guide, SnowPro Core has 100 questions in 115 minutes, Advanced exams require an active Core certification, and certifications expire after two years unless you complete qualifying continuing education. It also says some Advanced and Specialty exams (including Data Analyst and Snowpark) are being retired between 1 November and 1 December 2026, so don't start preparing for one of those now.

Our view: if you have under two years of Snowflake work, take Core, and only after you've built a real project. A certificate with no project behind it reads as exam cramming. Pay for the exam with a dollar card from your domiciliary account or a fintech card that works for international payments, and check the card works before exam day. Our guide to receiving and spending dollars in Nigeria compares the options.

How to build Snowflake proof without a Snowflake job

The hardest part for Nigerian applicants isn't learning Snowflake; it's showing an employer you've used it on something real. Snowflake's free trial solves the access problem. According to Snowflake's documentation on trial accounts, the trial lasts 30 days or until the free usage balance runs out, needs only an email address to sign up (a card is needed for AI features and upgrading), and the account is suspended when the trial ends. Unused free balance expires.

Thirty days goes fast, so plan the project before you sign up. Keep your SQL, dbt models and documentation in a GitHub repository, so the work outlives the trial.

Example (hypothetical): a 30-day Snowflake portfolio project

Example (hypothetical): Chiamaka, a data analyst in Enugu, wants analytics engineering roles. Before starting her trial she downloads a public e-commerce dataset (orders, customers, payments) and a public exchange-rate file.

  1. Days 1 to 5: create a database, warehouse and roles; load raw CSV and JSON files through a stage with COPY INTO.
  2. Days 6 to 15: build dbt models (staging, then a star schema with an orders fact table and customer dimension), with tests for nulls and unique keys.
  3. Days 16 to 22: add an incremental model and a task that refreshes it daily; use Time Travel to show she can recover from a bad load.
  4. Days 23 to 27: profile her slowest query, change clustering or the warehouse size, and record before and after run times and credits used.
  5. Days 28 to 30: write a README with a diagram, decisions and what she would change at production scale.

That project hits most of the skills listed in real ads, and the cost-tuning step gives her something specific to talk about in interviews. For more on presenting projects, see our planned guide to building a data portfolio for remote roles.

What remote Snowflake jobs pay, and what to expect from Nigeria

There isn't a reliable public salary dataset for "Snowflake developer" as a job title, so use benchmarks carefully.

The closest official US benchmark is the US Bureau of Labor Statistics occupation database administrators and architects. As of May 2025, BLS reports a median annual wage of $139,500 for database architects and $104,620 for database administrators. These are medians for people working in the US, on US payroll. They are not what a company will offer someone living in Nigeria.

Remote pay for Nigeria-based workers is usually below US local pay. Companies hiring worldwide often pay by location band, or hire you as a contractor at a rate pegged to what they'd pay in a lower-cost market. What moves your offer up:

  • Seniority: Snowflake roles skew mid-level and senior. Ads asking for three to five years of data engineering are common.
  • Region of the employer: US-funded startups and US consultancies usually pay more than European agencies.
  • Contract type: contractor rates look higher than salaries but carry no paid leave, pension or health cover.
  • Niche skills: migrations from Oracle or Teradata, Snowpark, and cost optimisation are scarcer than basic SQL.

If an ad publishes a salary band, ask early in the process whether the band applies to your location. For tax on that income once it lands, read our guide to tax for remote workers in Nigeria.

Working hours, power and getting paid

Time zones

Many Snowflake teams are US-based, and data pipelines often break at the worst moment, so on-call or overlap hours matter. A US Eastern 9am to 5pm day is 2pm to 10pm in Lagos while the US is on daylight time, and 3pm to 11pm from 1 November 2026 when the US switches to EST. UK hours (9am to 5pm GMT in winter) are 10am to 6pm in Lagos, and Central European hours match Lagos time in winter. If you want normal working hours, EMEA-tagged roles are the better fit.

Power and internet

Data engineering work means long query runs, video calls and sometimes incident response at night. Plan for inverter or solar backup and two internet connections (for example, a fixed line plus a MiFi or phone hotspot). Interviewers for senior roles sometimes ask how you'd handle a pipeline failure during a power cut; have an honest answer ready.

Payment

Worldwide employers usually pay Nigerians through an employer of record (EOR), a contractor platform such as Deel or Remote, or direct invoicing. Each route has different withdrawal fees and exchange costs; our guide to getting paid in dollars compares them.

A weekly routine for finding remote Snowflake roles

  1. Set up saved searches for "Snowflake", "dbt" and "analytics engineer" on two or three remote boards that show location tags, plus WorkRemote's job alerts.
  2. Twice a week, run the Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby searches listed earlier and open every new result.
  3. Discard any ad limited to the US, EU or UK; keep those tagged worldwide, EMEA, Africa or Nigeria.
  4. For each keeper, check the application form's country question and any travel or on-site clauses.
  5. Tailor your CV's top third to the ad's stack (dbt or not, which cloud, which BI tool).
  6. Link your Snowflake project and, if you have it, your SnowPro Core credential.
  7. Track each application (company, date, stage, follow-up date) in a simple sheet.
  8. Before interviews, practise SQL tasks under time pressure and prepare one cost-tuning story.

For the interview stage, our data engineer interview questions cover the technical and behavioural questions that come up in Snowflake-heavy roles.

Mistakes that cost Nigerian applicants Snowflake interviews

  • Searching only "Snowflake developer". Most openings sit under data engineer or analytics engineer titles.
  • Applying to US-only roles anyway. The application form usually filters you out automatically, and it wastes your best hours.
  • Listing Snowflake with no evidence. "Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks" in a skills line convinces nobody. One documented project does.
  • Skipping dbt. Many Snowflake ads list it, and it's free to learn with dbt Core.
  • Ignoring cost. Snowflake bills on compute used. Candidates who never mention credits, warehouse sizes or query profiles look junior.
  • Missing the travel clause. As the Solvd example shows, a "worldwide" ad can still mention trips abroad.
  • Paying "agents" for Snowflake job placement. Real employers don't charge you to apply or be hired. See our guide to spotting remote job scams.

Frequently asked questions

Can Nigerians get remote Snowflake developer jobs?

Yes, when the ad accepts people living in Nigeria, which usually means it's tagged worldwide, EMEA, Africa or Nigeria. Most remote Snowflake ads are limited to the US or Europe, so filter carefully and confirm eligibility on the application form before spending time on a tailored CV.

Do I need SnowPro Core certification to get hired?

No, it's rarely a hard requirement, but some ads list it as preferred. It costs $175 (about ₦238,000 at ₦1,362 to $1, CBN rate of 23 October 2026) according to a prep guide that rechecked Snowflake's sources in October 2026. Take it after you've built a project, not instead of one.

How can I practise Snowflake for free?

Use Snowflake's free trial. Snowflake's documentation says it runs for 30 days or until the free usage balance is used up, and needs only an email to sign up. Plan your project first and keep your code in GitHub so it survives after the trial account is suspended.

Is there such a thing as an entry-level remote Snowflake job?

Rarely. Remote Snowflake ads mostly ask for a few years of data engineering or analytics experience. The realistic route is to work as a data analyst or SQL developer first, build Snowflake and dbt projects, then move into analytics engineering.

Snowflake or Databricks: which should I learn for remote jobs?

Learn whichever appears more often in the ads you're targeting. Snowflake is common in analytics and BI-heavy teams; Databricks shows up more in Spark and machine-learning work. Strong SQL and Python carry over to both, and our planned Databricks roles guide compares them.

How much does a remote Snowflake developer earn?

It varies widely by seniority, employer region and contract type, and there's no reliable public salary figure for Nigeria-based Snowflake developers. As a US benchmark only, BLS reported a $139,500 median for US database architects in May 2025. Offers to people living in Nigeria are usually lower.

What job titles should I search besides "Snowflake developer"?

Search data engineer, analytics engineer, BI developer, data platform engineer and Snowflake engineer, each combined with "Snowflake" or "dbt". Consultancy ads often use "Snowflake consultant" for migration projects.

Key takeaways

  • Search the skill, not the title: most remote Snowflake work sits under data engineer, analytics engineer and BI developer.
  • Only a small share of Snowflake ads accept applicants in Nigeria; look for worldwide, EMEA or Africa tags and check the application form.
  • Read the small print: even "worldwide" ads can mention US-based teams or travel.
  • A documented Snowflake project, built on the 30-day free trial, beats a certificate on its own.
  • SnowPro Core costs about $175 as of October 2026; confirm the fee with Snowflake before paying.
  • US salary medians are benchmarks, not what a Nigeria-based applicant will be offered.
