Remote customer service representative salary for Nigerians
Remote customer service rep jobs open to Nigerians or Africans paid about $2,400 to $20,400 a year in the ads we checked in October 2026. Most offers we saw sat between $850 and $1,700 a month, often with a bonus on top.
Compare that with the US median for the same job, $44,770 a year in May 2025, and local Nigerian figures well under ₦400,000 a month, and you can see both why employers hire from here and why the roles are competitive.

Where these figures come from
- Entry
- From Afriex's Nigeria-based customer experience role at $200 to $230 a month (May 2025, closed) up to PJI Law's Africa-based Client Care Specialist at $850 a month base plus uncapped monthly bonuses (October 2026), which needs no legal experience.
- Mid
- PJI Law's $850 base up to the top of iClosed's worldwide customer support representative band ($1,200 to $1,700 a month, October 2026), which asks for a year of experience and B2 spoken English.
How that compares
Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.
- US median, customer service representatives (BLS, May 2025) (bls.gov)$44,770 a year
- UK experienced customer service assistant (National Careers Service) (nationalcareers.service.gov.uk)£30,000 a year
- Nigeria local, customer service analyst, upper average (Paylab, self-reported) (paylab.com)₦331,628 a month
What affects your pay
Bonuses. Several US-client roles pay a modest base plus a monthly bonus for call quality, attendance or team targets. Ask how much the last three months' bonus actually was.
Phone versus text. Voice roles with US clients tend to pay more than email-only roles, because fewer candidates pass the call test and the hardware check.
Industry. Legal, healthcare and finance clients pay more than e-commerce but expect stricter privacy, scripts and audits.
Agency margin. The client may pay the agency far more than you see. That's normal; what matters is that your figure is in writing and paid on time.
Naira value. At about ₦1,373 to $1 (Wise mid-market rate, 25 October 2026), $850 a month is roughly ₦1.17 million.
Negotiating your offer
Agencies often have fixed bands, so the realistic levers are your starting point within the band and the review date. Ask for the top of the band if you bring something specific: a second language, US-client experience, or proof of a wired, backed-up setup that most applicants don't have.
Get the bonus rules in writing. 'Uncapped bonus' means little until you know what triggers it.
Questions people ask
Is $850 a month a fair offer for a remote CSR job from Nigeria?
As of October 2026 it's within the normal range for entry-level, Africa-based roles with US clients, especially if there's a bonus on top. More experienced reps and those on software support queues reach $1,200 to $1,700 a month.
Do remote customer service jobs come with benefits?
Contractor roles through agencies usually don't include health insurance or pension. Some offer paid time off; ask before signing.
Are customer service salaries in Nigeria higher at local companies?
Usually lower. Paylab's self-reported figures for customer service analysts in Nigeria are about ₦166,000 to ₦332,000 a month, below what most foreign remote roles pay.

Salaries for related roles
- Customer Support Specialist
A customer support specialist answers customers' questions and fixes their problems by email, live chat and sometimes phone, usually inside a helpdesk such as Zendesk, Intercom or Gorgias. It is one of the most realistic remote jobs to get from Nigeria, because most of the work is written and many employers hire worldwide.
- Call Centre Agent
A call centre agent handles a steady queue of inbound or outbound phone calls for a business, following scripts and logging every call in a CRM. Remote call centre work from Nigeria is widely available through BPOs and US or UK agencies, but it demands a quiet room, wired internet, backup power and late shifts.
- Appointment Setter
An appointment setter contacts potential customers by phone, text, LinkedIn or Instagram and books them into calls with a salesperson, coach or consultant. It is a common remote job for Nigerians working with US businesses and agencies, but the market is full of commission-only and pay-to-train offers, so choose employers that pay a base.
- Virtual Assistant
A virtual assistant runs a client's admin from a distance: inbox, calendar, bookings, CRM updates, simple graphics and follow-ups. It is one of the most realistic remote jobs to land from Nigeria without a degree, but honest starting pay in 2026 agency ads is $6 to $7 an hour.
