Remote call centre agent salary in Nigeria
Home-based call centre agents working for US clients from Africa were offered about $850 to $1,220 a month in the ads we checked in October 2026, roughly $10,200 to $14,640 a year. Some roles add monthly bonuses on top.
That's far more than local call operator pay in Nigeria, which Paylab's survey puts at about ₦118,000 to ₦366,000 a month, and far less than US call centre pay. Employers are buying the gap, and they expect US-standard quality for it.

Remote call centre agent pay by level
Yearly pay in US dollars for remote call centre agent roles open to people outside the US and UK, then the same figures in naira a month.
| Level | Dollars a year | Naira a month |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $10,200 to $10,200 | ₦1,158,000 to ₦1,158,000 |
| Mid | $13,704 to $14,640 | ₦1,555,000 to ₦1,662,000 |
Naira at ₦1,362 to $1, 23 October 2026 (CBN NFEM weighted average), before tax and transfer fees, rounded to the nearest ₦1,000. The rate moves, so treat naira figures as a guide.
Where these figures come from
- Entry
- PJI Law's Africa-based Client Care Specialist role (October 2026): $850 a month base plus uncapped monthly bonuses, US Eastern hours, live phone coverage, no legal experience required. The description refers to South Africa, so confirm Nigeria is eligible.
- Mid
- Job Duck's client intake specialist role (posted August 2026, open to Africa): 'Compensation Range: 1142 USD to 1220 USD', which we read as monthly for a full-time Monday to Friday PST role; 20 to 30 inbound and about 10 outbound calls a day, with a near-American accent preferred.
How that compares
Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.
- US median, customer service representatives incl. call centre (BLS, May 2025) (bls.gov)$44,770 a year
- UK starter salary, customer service assistant incl. call centre worker (National Careers Service) (nationalcareers.service.gov.uk)£20,000 a year
- Nigeria local, call operator, lower figure (Paylab, self-reported) (paylab.com)₦117,521 a month
- Nigeria local, call operator, upper average (Paylab, self-reported) (paylab.com)₦366,123 a month
What affects your pay
Client country. US clients generally pay more than local or Africa-facing contracts. UK-client home agents in South Africa were offered R23,000 to R25,000 a month in one 2026 ad.
Inbound, outbound or intake. Specialist intake for law firms and healthcare pays more than general inbound, but comes with stricter scripts, privacy rules and accent expectations.
Bonuses and penalties. Quality, attendance and target bonuses can add meaningfully to the base. Some contracts also deduct for missed shifts, so read them.
Hours. Overnight and weekend coverage may pay more, but that is rarely stated in ads. Ask.
What it's worth in naira. At about ₦1,373 to $1 (Wise mid-market, 25 October 2026), $850 a month is about ₦1.17 million and $1,220 about ₦1.68 million.
Negotiating your offer
Call centre pay is usually set per client, so there's less room on the base rate. Negotiate what you can: your start date, the shift pattern, paid breaks, and a review after 90 days if your quality scores are high.
Ask how bonuses are calculated and what agents typically earn from them. Get the pay date, currency and payment platform in writing before your first shift.
Questions people ask
How much is $1,000 a month in naira for a call centre agent?
About ₦1.37 million at the Wise mid-market rate we saw on 25 October 2026 (₦1,373 to $1). Your actual amount depends on the platform's exchange rate and fees.
Are remote call centre jobs paid hourly or monthly?
Both exist. Agency roles for Africans are often quoted monthly; some part-time roles pay hourly against a timesheet.
Do Nigerian BPOs pay in dollars?
Most local BPOs pay in naira. Dollar pay usually comes through foreign agencies or US companies hiring directly.

Salaries for related roles
- Customer Service Representative
A customer service representative (CSR) handles customers' orders, bills, bookings and complaints by phone, email, chat and SMS on behalf of a business. Nigerians do this job remotely every day, mostly for US and UK firms through staffing agencies, and mostly on their hours.
- Appointment Setter
An appointment setter contacts potential customers by phone, text, LinkedIn or Instagram and books them into calls with a salesperson, coach or consultant. It is a common remote job for Nigerians working with US businesses and agencies, but the market is full of commission-only and pay-to-train offers, so choose employers that pay a base.
- Customer Support Specialist
A customer support specialist answers customers' questions and fixes their problems by email, live chat and sometimes phone, usually inside a helpdesk such as Zendesk, Intercom or Gorgias. It is one of the most realistic remote jobs to get from Nigeria, because most of the work is written and many employers hire worldwide.
- Support Team Lead
A support team lead runs a small team of customer support agents: building the schedule, reviewing ticket and call quality, coaching people and handling the worst escalations. You can do it remotely from Nigeria, but most leads are promoted from inside a support team, so external remote hires usually want two or more years of supervising agents already.
