Remote accounts receivable specialist salary for Nigerians
As of October 2026, published ads for remote AR work for UK companies paid about $16,600 to $18,100 a year for AR clerk and invoicing roles, and about $21,000 to $23,200 for credit control specialists. These come from one offshore recruiter's ads for South African applicants; we did not find published AR pay aimed at Nigerian applicants.
US billing and posting clerks earned a median of $48,500 in 2025, and UK credit controllers earn £21,000 to £32,000 according to the National Careers Service.

- Remote Recruitment's October 2026 Accounts Receivable Clerk and Invoicing Administrator ads (UK hours, South Africa only): R23,000 to R25,000 a month, converted at R16.58 to $1 on 25 October 2026.

How that compares
Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.
- US median, billing and posting clerks (BLS via O*NET, 2025) (onetonline.org)$48,500 a year
- UK credit controller, starter salary (National Careers Service) (nationalcareers.service.gov.uk)£21,000 a year
- UK credit controller, experienced salary (National Careers Service) (nationalcareers.service.gov.uk)£32,000 a year
What affects your pay
Collections versus processing. In the same recruiter's ads, owning overdue collections paid about a quarter more than raising invoices or allocating cash. Phone-based credit control is harder to fill.
Software. Xero, QuickBooks or Sage are the baseline for UK small businesses. Enterprise systems and subscription billing (Stripe, GoCardless) appear in better-paid roles at larger companies.
Customer type. Chasing other businesses (B2B) is the usual remote AR job. Consumer debt collection is more regulated and is rarely offshored to Nigeria.
Employer route. A staffing firm or employer of record gives a fixed salary. A direct contract with a small UK company can pay more but usually comes without paid leave.
Negotiating your offer
Bring evidence of collected money. "Brought 90-day debtors down by 40% in two quarters" is a stronger negotiating point than years of experience.
If the employer offers a fixed salary in rand, naira or another local currency, ask whether they can pay in dollars or pounds. Some will; others will at least agree to review pay every six months.
Ask what the collection targets are and whether there is a bonus for hitting them. Credit control is one of the few back-office roles where a bonus tied to results is common.
Questions people ask
What is a remote credit controller's salary in naira?
A credit control salary of about $1,850 a month, the midpoint of the October 2026 ads we found, came to roughly ₦2.45 million at ₦1,325.72 to $1 on 25 October 2026. Exchange rates move, so ask for the contract in dollars or pounds.
Is credit control paid better than AR clerk work?
In the ads we found, yes: R29,000 to R32,000 a month for credit control against R23,000 to R25,000 for AR clerk and invoicing roles at the same recruiter in October 2026.
Are there bonuses in remote AR jobs?
Some credit control roles pay bonuses for hitting collection targets, but none of the published offshore ads we used for these ranges mentioned one. Ask at interview.

Salaries for related roles
- Accounts Payable Specialist
An accounts payable (AP) specialist makes sure a company's suppliers are paid the right amount, once, on time, and that every bill is recorded properly. It is a well-defined back-office role that foreign companies do hire for remotely, including some, like Canonical, that hire home-based AP staff anywhere in EMEA, which includes Nigeria.
- Bookkeeper
A bookkeeper records a business's money in and out, reconciles bank accounts and keeps the ledgers ready for the accountant. It is one of the most realistic finance roles to do remotely from Nigeria, because UK, US and Australian small businesses already run their books in cloud software like Xero and QuickBooks Online.
- Customer Success Manager
A customer success manager (CSM) owns a group of business customers after they buy, making sure they get results from the product so they renew and spend more. Nigerians do win remote CSM roles, including EMEA roles at global software companies, but it is rarely a first job: most CSMs come from support, onboarding or account management.
