Remote technical support specialist salary for Nigerians
Remote technical support roles open to Nigerians ranged from roughly $8,600 a year to $120,000 a year in the ads we checked in October 2026. Where you land depends almost entirely on how technical you are: first-line app support pays at the bottom, while support engineers who can debug TypeScript or Linux servers reach European and even US-style pay.
For comparison, the US median for computer user support specialists was $61,860 in May 2025.

Where these figures come from
- Entry
- Low end: Tiko's IT customer support officer role open to Nigeria at ₦981,771 to ₦1,227,214 a month (about $8,580 to $10,730 a year at Wise's ₦1,373 to $1 rate on 25 October 2026), which also required fluent French. High end: iClosed's worldwide SaaS support role at $1,200 to $1,700 a month, which includes helping users with Zapier, Make, webhooks and APIs.
- Senior
- Hercules' October 2026 technical customer support engineer role for people in Europe, the Middle East or Africa, listed at $60,000 to $120,000 (the body says up to $125,000 plus equity), requiring strong TypeScript and React and production debugging.
How that compares
Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.
- US median, computer user support specialists (BLS, May 2025) (bls.gov)$61,860 a year
- UK median, permanent technical support jobs (ITJobsWatch, 6 months to 25 Oct 2026) (itjobswatch.co.uk)£40,000 a year
- UK starter salary, IT support technician (National Careers Service) (nationalcareers.service.gov.uk)£24,000 a year
- Nigeria local, technical support specialist, lower figure (Paylab, self-reported) (paylab.com)₦152,175 a month
- Nigeria local, technical support specialist, upper average (Paylab, self-reported) (paylab.com)₦447,484 a month
What affects your pay
Support level. L1 roles following scripts sit at the bottom. L2 and L3 roles that need SQL, log analysis or code reading are where pay jumps.
Stack and domain. Payments, hosting, health tech and developer tools pay a premium for specialist knowledge. One worldwide health-tech role in September 2026 (DeepHealth) offered €35,000 to €50,000 a year for someone with a year of IT support plus French, ITIL and Linux.
Languages. French alongside English came up in two of the roles we checked, and it widened the options considerably.
On-call. Rotas covering nights or weekends are common. Ask whether on-call is paid separately.
Local versus remote. Paylab's self-reported figures put technical support specialists in Nigeria at roughly ₦152,000 to ₦447,000 a month, about $110 to $325 at ₦1,373 to $1. Even entry-level remote roles beat that comfortably.
UK spread. ITJobsWatch's UK figures for permanent technical support jobs ran from £28,500 at the 10th percentile to £50,000 at the 90th in the six months to 25 October 2026.
Negotiating your offer
Technical support has measurable output, so use it: ticket volume, resolution time, escalations you closed without engineering, knowledge base articles written. Show your portfolio in the interview and refer back to it when salary comes up.
If the company has a support engineering ladder, ask where you'd be placed and what it takes to move up. A higher level later is often easier to win than a bigger number now. Ask for on-call pay and a home internet allowance if they're not mentioned.
Questions people ask
Do technical support specialists earn more than customer support agents?
Usually yes. In the remote roles we checked, general support topped out around $2,200 a month, while technical support engineering roles open to Africa reached $60,000 to $120,000 a year.
What skills raise a technical support salary the most?
SQL, API debugging, Linux, scripting in Python or Bash, and in some roles a frontend stack such as TypeScript and React. Domain knowledge in payments or hosting also pays.
How much do IT support jobs pay in Nigeria locally?
Paylab's self-reported data shows IT and technical support specialists in Nigeria at roughly ₦128,000 to ₦403,000 a month in its IT category, and ₦152,000 to ₦447,000 in its customer support category.

Salaries for related roles
- Customer Support Specialist
A customer support specialist answers customers' questions and fixes their problems by email, live chat and sometimes phone, usually inside a helpdesk such as Zendesk, Intercom or Gorgias. It is one of the most realistic remote jobs to get from Nigeria, because most of the work is written and many employers hire worldwide.
- Manual QA Tester
A manual QA tester checks software by hand before customers see it: running test cases, exploring for bugs and writing reports a developer can act on. You can do it remotely from Nigeria, but pure manual testing jobs are shrinking and pay less than automation roles, so treat it as a way into QA rather than a place to stay.
