Remote paralegal salary for Nigerians

Remote paralegal-type roles open to applicants in any country, including Nigeria, were advertised at $1,150 to $1,320 a month as of October 2026, about $13,800 to $15,800 a year. Most of the published figures we found came from one US legal staffing company, Job Duck, which uses similar pay bands across many roles, so treat this as one employer's scale rather than a market average.

That is far below US pay. The US median for paralegals and legal assistants was $62,890 in May 2025. In naira terms, though, $1,200 a month was about ₦1.59 million at the 25 October 2026 rate.

Where these figures come from

Job Duck's October 2026 Case Manager (litigation case management) ad, needing prior experience as a litigation paralegal or case manager, open to all countries, US Eastern hours: $1,220 to $1,320 a month.

How that compares

Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.

What affects your pay

Practice area. Personal injury and litigation support roles were the most common in the ads we found. Specialist US business immigration work, such as O-1 and EB-1A petitions, asks for specific experience and is the kind of niche where pay can be negotiated, though the ad we found did not publish a figure.

Direct firm versus staffing company. A staffing company handles payment and replacement and takes a margin. A direct contract with a US firm may pay more but brings less security.

Language. Bilingual English and Spanish (or Portuguese) roles are common. In the Job Duck ads we checked, bilingual roles did not always publish higher pay, but they open more doors.

Your degree does not set your pay. One personal injury role required a law degree and still paid the same band as roles that did not. Experience in US procedure is what moves you up.

Negotiating your offer

If you are hired through a staffing company, ask about the review cycle: when pay is reviewed and what moves you to the next band. Get the answer in writing.

For direct contracts with US firms, quote monthly in dollars and attach a scope: practice area, caseload size and hours. A paralegal managing 60 active personal injury files is worth more than one doing intake only.

Ask about holidays and sick days. Some remote legal roles follow US public holidays, others pay only for hours worked. That difference is worth several hundred dollars a year.

Questions people ask

How much is a remote paralegal salary in naira?

At ₦1,325.72 to $1 on 25 October 2026, $1,150 to $1,320 a month is about ₦1.52 million to ₦1.75 million. Keep your contract in dollars; the naira rate moves.

Do Nigerian lawyers earn more as remote paralegals?

Not automatically. In the ads we found, a role requiring a law degree paid the same as roles that did not. US procedural experience and practice-area skills drive pay.

Can I earn US-level pay as a remote paralegal from Nigeria?

Rarely. US-based paralegals earn a median of $62,890. Remote international roles are priced well below that. Higher pay comes with niche expertise, direct firm contracts and seniority.

Are there hourly legal gigs for Nigerian lawyers?

Some AI training companies hire lawyers worldwide. One 2026 ad from x.ai listed $45 to $100 an hour for US-based candidates and said international pay would be given during recruitment, so do not assume the US rate applies.
