Remote community manager salary for Nigerians
Mid-level remote community managers in roles open to all countries were offered about $24,000 to $60,000 a year in October 2026 job ads, and senior community leads $80,000 to $110,000. In naira, $40,000 a year is about ₦4.5 million a month at the CBN rate of ₦1,361 to the dollar on 23 October 2026.
We couldn't find enough entry-level moderator ads with published pay to give a reliable junior range, so the figures below start at mid-level. Many people start part-time or as paid moderators for much less.

Remote community manager pay by level
Yearly pay in US dollars for remote community manager roles open to people outside the US and UK, then the same figures in naira a month.
| Level | Dollars a year | Naira a month |
|---|---|---|
| Mid | $24,000 to $60,000 | ₦2,724,000 to ₦6,810,000 |

Naira at ₦1,362 to $1, 23 October 2026 (CBN NFEM weighted average), before tax and transfer fees, rounded to the nearest ₦1,000. The rate moves, so treat naira figures as a guide.
Where these figures come from
- Mid
- Storm Ideas' AI-first copy and community manager contract ($24,000 to $28,000, open to all countries) and Mighty Networks' full-time community manager role ($40,000 to $60,000, open to all countries, pay based on location), both advertised in October 2026.
- Senior
- Vana Foundation's global community lead, Discord-focused with an ambassador programme ($80,000 to $110,000, open to all countries, September 2026). Mighty Networks' community strategist role went up to $145,000 but adjusts by location, so we cap the range lower.
How that compares
Reference points from other markets. Remote pay for people in Nigeria is usually below US and UK local pay.
- Worldwide-open community manager, bottom of range (Mighty Networks) (himalayas.app)$40,000 a year
- Worldwide-open senior community lead, bottom of range (Vana Foundation) (himalayas.app)$80,000 a year
What affects your pay
What the community is for. Communities tied to revenue (customer communities for software products, paid membership platforms) pay better than fan or hobby communities.
Programme building. Senior pay goes to people who build systems: ambassador programmes, moderator teams, events calendars and reporting that leadership trusts.
Technical products. Communities for developer tools, data or crypto products pay more if you can understand and explain the product.
Hours. Roles covering US evenings or weekends are harder to fill. Ask whether that's reflected in pay, or whether you'll get time off in lieu.
Location-based pay. Mighty Networks' 2026 ads, for example, said exact pay depends on location, experience and cost of living. Expect offers to Nigeria to sit towards the lower part of a published range unless you negotiate.
Negotiating your offer
Bring numbers from your own community: growth, retention, event turnout, and anything that ties to business, like fewer support tickets or members who became customers. Community budgets are often questioned, so a manager who can defend the value is worth more.
Ask directly what part of the range applies to Nigeria. If the answer is low, negotiate for scope and hours: no weekend cover, a moderator budget, or a review in six months.
For crypto roles, negotiate the currency as hard as the amount. Dollars or a stablecoin, paid on a fixed date, beats a bigger number in a token.
Questions people ask
How much is a $40,000 community manager salary in naira?

What do Discord moderators earn?
We didn't find enough moderator ads with published pay open to Nigeria to give a fair figure. Many moderator roles are part-time or volunteer, so check the hours and pay in writing.
Do community managers earn more than social media managers?
In the worldwide-open ads we found, full-time community manager roles started higher than social media coordinator roles. Both vary a lot by company and scope.

Salaries for related roles
- Social Media Manager
A social media manager plans, posts and reports on a brand's accounts (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube) and answers the people who comment. It is one of the most common remote jobs open to Nigerians, though most foreign roles go to people who can show accounts they have actually grown.
- Customer Success Manager
A customer success manager (CSM) owns a group of business customers after they buy, making sure they get results from the product so they renew and spend more. Nigerians do win remote CSM roles, including EMEA roles at global software companies, but it is rarely a first job: most CSMs come from support, onboarding or account management.
- Customer Support Specialist
A customer support specialist answers customers' questions and fixes their problems by email, live chat and sometimes phone, usually inside a helpdesk such as Zendesk, Intercom or Gorgias. It is one of the most realistic remote jobs to get from Nigeria, because most of the work is written and many employers hire worldwide.
