Who we are
Moniepoint Inc. is Africa’s all-in-one financial platform, helping 20 million businesses and individuals access seamless payments, banking, credit, cross-border, and business management tools each month.
As Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer, we power most of the country’s point-of-sale (POS) transactions. Through our subsidiaries, Moniepoint Inc. processes over $250 billion in digital payment transaction value annually.
About the role
As a Senior Product Designer, you will shape financial experiences that millions of people rely on every day. Designing for money means designing for trust, often for people on low-end devices and unreliable internet connections, where a confusing screen can cost someone a sale. Your job is to take complex, ambiguous problems and turn them into experiences that are simple and trustworthy.
You will join one of our product teams, working either on the products our customers use on POS, mobile and web, or on the operational tools our teams use to serve them. You will work alongside a product manager and engineers, with support from researchers and content designers.
What you'll do
- Lead design for a customer-facing product or an operational tool, from discovery through launch and the improvements that follow.
- Frame the problem with your product and engineering partners before designing the solution.
- Think in systems, creating templates and patterns that can be configured and reused across products and platforms, and help evolve our design system.
- Design for accessibility and inclusion from the start, so our products work for everyone, whatever their ability, device or level of digital literacy.
- Turn complex customer and business problems into simple journeys people can trust, crafted down to the smallest detail.
- Stay with the work through build so that what ships matches what was designed, then measure its impact and keep improving it.
- Present your work with conviction and defend your decisions with clear reasoning, to designers, partners and leadership.
- Prototype early and test with real customers and real data, changing direction when the evidence says so.
- Raise the quality of design around you through critique and mentoring.
What you need to succeed
- 7+ years of product design experience, leading complex, ambiguous projects end to end with minimal direction.
- A portfolio of shipped work that shows exceptional craft and clear thinking: the problem, your role, your decisions and what changed as a result.
- A record of framing the problem with product and engineering partners, not only designing the solution.
- Strong interaction and visual design skills across mobile and web, with a sharp eye for hierarchy, typography, layout and detail.
- Strong systems thinking: you design flexible templates and reusable patterns that adapt through configuration rather than one-off screens.
- A deep commitment to accessibility and inclusive design, with strong knowledge of the standards and shipped work that shows it.
- The ability to use both research and data to inform and evaluate design decisions.
- The confidence to advocate for your design decisions and hold your ground with senior stakeholders, in writing and in person, while staying open to better evidence.
- Experience giving useful critique and helping other designers grow.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools to explore and prototype faster, while owning the judgment and the quality of the result.
Nice to have
- Experience designing for POS terminals is a strong plus.
- Experience in financial services, multiple markets or operational tools is also welcome.
What you’ll get
- A leadership role in shaping the future of fintech - your work will impact millions of users.
- Career growth opportunities.
- A culture of experimentation - we encourage innovative thinking and rapid iteration.
